Mike Leach (Texas Tech)

I'd definitely be down for Leach's offense at UT next year. I mean, it's like watching a video game. Getting the right defensive coordinator would be as big of a hire as Leach, though.

people keep focusing on one game against bama in which they were held to a low point total...the man had the number one offense in the league at Kentucky when he was in the league. Remember that was when Spurrier was at his height with UF

Exactly. We would be crazy not to consider this guy our number two, only behind a possible Gruden pick up. Even if we retain Chavis and he gives up the kind of numbers we have seen this year, why does it really matter if we are putting up 40 points a game? With the talent availability at UT, combined with a traditionally strong UT defense...this could be really good. If we can get some strong recruiters and a really good defensive coordinator this could be a really fun team to watch.

I agree. I actually think and people are going to crucify me for this, but I think that we have talent comparable to Texas Tech but we see what we are getting out of it

Tennessee realistically has twice the talent on defense that Tech has and better talent than Tech has on offense (exception being Crabtree who could start at any school in the country)

Yeah I mean the QBs are comparable in every aspect of the game. Get real man

The recruiting classes we've brought in would certainly say so. I think he and his staff do a much better job with developing those players though.

Go to rivals and look at Leach's recruiting classes. Not impressive. Lots of 3-stars. The classees are about 90% from Texas. Not very many highly rated players. His superstars? Harrell's offer sheet was Wisconsin, Louisiana Tech, Arizona State, Baylor, NC State, Purdue, Georgia. Crabtree was a QB in high school who most colleges wanted to make into a DB. I am not arguing that Leach does not have a great offensive mind. He does. But he does not fit the criteria of what it would take to be very successful at a program like UT.

I watched the TT game Saturday and liked what I saw. I have to say that I think our talent (except the QB's) could run that offense. The O-Line doesn't need to give him too much time with all those quick slants.

Spot on!

Remember the old saying , "Offense sells tickets and defense wins championships", well the game has changed. The average score in the 10 BCS championship games has been 34-19 and take out the one defensive struggle ,(Okla 13 FSU 2 in 2000) it jumps to 37-22. The trend is getting more offensive as time goes by with the average score of 44-24 in the last 4 years. I would say, "Offense sells tickets & wins championships while defense helps". My vote is for Mike Leach by a wide margin.

Exactly. Why would any high school recruit want to play in Leach's feeble 48 points/game offense when they could play for Clawson's prolific 16 points/game offense.

1. He does more with less.....obviously. This has been discussed before, I know. 2 & 3 star players set the world on fire in his system.

2. More importantly....he won't have to for long. TT has been on national primetime TV several time this year. He is the toast of the coaching world right now. Wherever he goes, offensive players are going to seek him out wherever he is next year. He will have to beat top QB's and WR's off with a stick now.

I am firmly hoping for Gruden. But somebody, and it may be TT, is going to reap the benefits of his big year this year.

We could do much worse.

I would like to have him just for the mere fact that I want to enjoy watching our offense again.
