Mike Leach (Texas Tech)

I just read a story yesterday on Leach and that he had been fined by the Big 12 after last years Texas game for talking bad about the refs...He was fined $10,000...The local people took up a charity fund to help pay for the fine...Leach paid the fine out of his own pocket and took the money from the fund raiser and bought turkeys for the poor people in lubbock and HAND DELIVERED THEM HIS SELF!...I don't know about You guys but that's someone I would like in my community...He's quickly rising to #1 on my list although its hard to knock Davis off his perch, Leach is getting close!

I read something like that too, i thought it was hams though. regarless, the guy is gold in Lubbockians eyes.
Great coach and recruiter wherever he goes. Given the looks of this year, he not only wins CCG, he beats Bama or Fla in NCG.

My perfect combo would be:

Leach at head coach
Chavis at coordinator

I think there's a lot to say for Chavis, having been around this conference for so many years. He knows what he's doing, regardless of what some people think on here.

He's been the only consistent thing going for TN for years.

Let Leach score 25-30 every week, and hope Chavis can still play good defense.

My only concern with Leach is that he won't be able to recruit big time defensive players.

Although Leach gives me crazy pot head vibes, and he's not one I'm exactly "pining" for, I will say this in his defense: He is in a conference that includes Oklahoma and Texas - two teams he has to go through every year to win a championship. Texas has gone 11 years with 10+ win seasons and won a NC recently, and Oklahoma who has been to multiple NC's and has one under their belt as well. Texas Tech is not a top tier school, and unfortunately they aren't exactly hot beds for recruiting. I'm not trying to take away from Crabtree or Harrell, they are amazing, but the fact that he does have a record comparable to Fulmer's despite not being a storied school says quite a bit. I mean the Man does have a good team, and they are kicking the ever living crap out of anyone that gets in their way this year.

The truth will be in the pudding after Nov 22 if they manage to beat Oklahoma, especially in a convincing fashion, I don't think anyone can argue the man can't coach. I happen to like pass happy offenses tho, and yes I see the importance of the Run, but you need to be able to score in a hurry too to win championships.

I remember when everyone said steve spurrier's offense wouldn't work in the sec and urban meyer's wouldn't either. It would not take him 3-4 yrs to have us back in the sec hunt. Like someone else already posted, OU went from like #100 in offense to #2 in Leach's first yr

The Mad Scientist...Go on Hamilton...Sign him up and I'll personally raise a pirate flag in his honor.

With a new regime coming in....I highly doubt they will keep anyone from the old staff. They will most likely want to bring in people they trust and believe in. I cant say I would be sad to see Chavis go along with Fulmer. The D is ready for some new life to be brought to it as well.

I think TT is equivalent to Miss St. in the SEC. The man has brought up that school using "left over" recruits from that region. If you put him in a situation; at a school with more national appeal, like UT, I think he will create an offense that would be just plain ol' scary.

IMO If Leach were to come here, within three years our team would be solid on both sides of the ball. Yes he would build up the offense first, but the defense would follow shortly after. I'd say in his first year, he would make UT win just by outscoring the other team. After that, the recruiting ball would start to roll and we will start getting studs for offense and defense. By his fourth year, if Mike Leach were to come here, we will be competing for the SEC championship.

That's just my opinion.

Yes, he is a guru and a great coach. I think he would be ok but you gotta recruit the big names consistently and he has never been in a place that gave him an opportunity to do that.

I think we need to give him that opportunity on the Hill. I want Leach over Davis...i'll have an orange pirate flag made the day the inks dry!

Luckily for him, with the state he is in being so talent rich, even the "left overs" are great players....not sure if thats the case around here.
