Mike Leach!!!!!!!!!!!!! PLEASE!!!!!!!!!

Well, this will be the first place he's ever had the opportunity to coach at that has a history of getting top 25 recruiting classes. If he can put a staff together that can recruit...and he gets top 10 classes- watch out!

That was 20 years ago. Even Spurrier had to adapt to the times and used mobile QBs when he came back to USC

Nope he got lucky finding Conner Shaw and it freaking killed him to have to use him the way he did. I live here in SC and follow the lame cocks because I hate Clemson and most of my buds are SC fans. Spurrier had 1 QB during his days with USC and he threw him under the bus every chance he got. Conner Shaw won for Spurrier in spite of Ole Ball coach.

Spurrier would chunk it a million times a game if he could!

:thud:

Wow- what hypocrites you snowflake VOL fans are after crying and melting when Schiano was about to be announced. You wrongly claimed he had ties to the Sandusky tragedy as the reason he shouldn't be the VOLS coach. Now you want Leach, who has actual baggage, when Schiano doesn't. Schiano is a better coach as well. You blew it snowflakes and now you're begging for anyone to sign on as UT coach. The snowflake faction of the VOLS fanbase is an embarrassment. Nice job morons.

Shut up already!

Make a spot for his ship on the river next to Calhouns. He's a good hire and this is the first school he will be HC at with a history of getting good recruits. I'm on board for pirate Leach!

The very fact that Leach was this far down Currie's list boggles the mind

It boggles the mind to think that anyone would rather have Schiano than Leach. regardless of how far down the list Leach was.

He would have been one of the first names I would have called. I mentioned him earlier today.

Fan on WSU board said "Wait til those Tennessee fans go crazy when he goes for it on 4th and four from his own 30."

Yeah, probably a good prediction ...

But, right now I'll take anything with some spice. Pirate on!

I’m not sure I can handle another let down

I hear you.

You don't get up in the morning and run a marathon. The ability to deal with this week's crushing disappointments took training. The Vols football program has disappointed me time after time for a decade, I've built up resistance to this sort of thing like these kooky dudes that expose themselves to rattlesnake venom over long periods of time.

I’ll be completely honest, I don’t know much about this dude. Can someone compare him to Gundy? Is he even in the same class as Gundy?

The reason I ask, is it seems people a very excited about him so I’m trying to understand why.

Here is my short, halfway objective comparison.

Mike Gundy: 113- 53; .681 winning percentage. National Coach of the year 2011, Big 12 COY 2010. Bowl record 7-4. 6 consensus All Americans. Has Sweet Mullet, and not afraid to call out the media in defense of his players. Has been at OSU his whole career except for one year as QB coach at Baylor and three as QB coach at Maryland.

Coaching Tree

Head coaches under whom Mike Gundy served:
Les Miles
Ron Vanderlinden
Pat Jones

Assistant coaches who became head coaches:
Tim Beckman: Toledo (2009–2011), Illinois (2012–2014)
Larry Fedora: Southern Miss (2008–2011), North Carolina (2012–present)
Dana Holgorsen: West Virginia (2011–present)
Todd Monken: Southern Miss (2013–2015)

Mike Leach: 122- 80; .604 winning Percentage at Texas Tech and Washington State. Big 12 COY 2010., PAC 12 COY 2015. Bowl Record 6-6. 3 consensus All Americans. Was Offensive Coordinator at Valdosta State, developed the Air Raid Offense for Hal Mumme at Kentucky with Tim Couch at QB. Four NCAA, 42 SEC, and 116 school records broken as Kentucky's offensive coordinator. Was OC for Bob Stoops at Oklahoma before going to Tech. Has Law degree from Pepperdine, likes all things Pirate, and is unafraid to speak his mind at all times. May be crazy.
