Mike Leach accepted the UT Job, then we withdrew the offer... Let that sink in

The ultimate irony, as Leach is a redneck. Tobacco chewing guy who does his coaches show in a dive bar. If you stayed in Key West any the last few years you could hit up the local bars and have a conversation with him.

Oh no. He drinks and says bad words???!!!!

Nope. Won’t fly in Knoxville. If he ain’t Billy Graham, we don’t want him around here.

Leach does seem like the type of guy you could sit and have a conversation and doesn't come across as too uppity.

How did they (WSU) have time, in one game, to have a 6 turnovers, score 63, and lose, all in the same game? i am going to have to watch that one on replay.

Those defensive players aren't going to need to wash their uniforms.

Leach was a backup plan for Dorean. Don't know where they idea came from that he accepted an offer....

I can create ten threads with bold font, doesn't make it true.

No Currie got fired because Currie went rogue and offered him without permission.
No one knew where he was at until he contacted Davenport saying that “Leach was receptive”. She called him back in...yes to be fired for the entire coaching search. There was no offer. That would’ve been the next step.

Can someone explain to me why this high high high level coach was unemployed for three years after leaving Texas Tech? Anyone?

The stink from the whole Texas Tech debacle with the ESPN guy’s son probably had something to do with it, but hey what do I know.

Incorrect. Texts revealed that Leach's agent thought he had the job.

That’s great for the Leach side. But given the timeline, Currie didn’t have an offer to make as the admin was looking for him because they didn’t know where he was. Currie didn’t have the authority to hire Leach at the time. He was a dead man walking and was on his out. He woulda been fired before going to Leach had the admin known his location

Okay.... Then the question is: Why?

Well I’d assume that since the facts hadn’t come out yet that no one wanted to touch a “bully” coach, plus didn’t Bob Knight get in trouble around that time as well? So there was a stigma on Texas Tech coaches.

Plus he was suing Texas Tech, which probably didn’t make him look good to potential employers.

At the end of the day the guy does more with less, which Pruitt is showing at the moment that he can only do great if he already has great talent to work with.

I'm watching last nights WSU vs UCLA game now and the announcer says, "Mike Leach's last two starting QBs are now starters in the NFL". Yep, there is no way he would be successful in the SEC.

I'd guess both of those happened late last nite.

I turned off a 49 - 17 game and wake up to 67 - 63.

Whys the rum gone?
I did the same thing, only now my vodka bottle is empty.

Can you imagine the gnashing of teeth and carrying on if that scenario happened at Tennessee?

One, blowing a 32 point lead at home to a previously winless team would provoke a similar reaction as a loss to Ga State has. Two, can you imagine any Tennessee QB not named Peyton Manning throwing 9 TD passes in a game?

Got it. When the facts came out, they reflected more poorly on Craig James and his son than they did Leach.
