Even a guy like Ben Arbuckle, who is in just his first year as OU's OC, is probably better off long-term staying where he's at. It's definitely a bet on Venables being able to get it fully turned around there, but if he does, he'll be in line for a much better HC job than Oklahoma St in a few years. Much less Golesh and Sumrall, who are already HCs. Monken is the OC of maybe the NFL's best offense. He'd get a big pay bump, but you also have to deal with so much non-football BS as a college HC. Especially at a job like Oklahoma St, because a big part of that job going forward is going to be trying to drum up NIL money.Yeah, I was just looking at that.
Golesh is on everyone's radar, but he's likely in a better position at USF than he would taking over a dumpster fire in Stillwater. He's a hot commodity and better jobs (and by that I mean those that can invest in an NIL program) will open this year.
Thing is, they were actually set up pretty well competition-wise to do well in the reconstituted Big 12. They have won 10 games and finished in the top 16 as recently as 2021 and 2023, right on the verge of OU and Texas leaving.Gundys days were numbered as soon as the SEC passed on bringing Okie St in with OU and Texas and Gundy was super pissed about that and Bedlam no longer being played. I never like him he played us 3 times to get a raise. I’m glad we didn’t hire him but i will say he did rock the mullet.
People should root for his downfall because he leveraged other employer's interest to get a raise from his current employer?
You people are bizarre.
Fulmer didn't lose 11 straight games to FBS teams on his way out. They have been unbelievably bad the last 15 games.Really surprised that they didn't let him finish the year the way we did with Fulmer.
That's so well said. Equally applies to NIL and Portal as well.
Gundy screwed us over? How in the world can any coherent and sober person possibly come to that conclusion.![]()
