Mike Griffith's tweet

My response:

@MikeGriffith32 In state football talent is about as good as the in state journalists. One is a joke, and the other is a bigger joke. #Oops

"most" is a huge leap. The fact is there are lots of SEC schools much closer and they have an edge in Memphis. Didn't think my post was breaking any news

Its not breaking news, just horribly inaccurate. I live here and work here. What Im telling you is a fact. All we have to do, is do a little better job here. We have the advantage!

Memphis has also proven to be a hotbed of coaching corruption over the last ten years.

Proximity matters as much or more than any other factor in recruiting. That isn't just a flippant opinion.

I know proximity matters and does hinder our recruiting here, but to say it trumps these kids favoring UT is wrong.

There's a reason why Griffith is the main target of jokes from other journalists in the area.

Might as well be Memphis, Mississippi or Memphis, Alabama.

Nope, either you're not paying attention or just doing this on purpose. Even in our current condition we have still pulled more from Memphis than Alabama or Mississippi, and its just getting better. We will start locking up all the Memphis players we want.

Griffith is right.

Why would you pull top notch talent from Michigan, Ohio, Florida, Georgia, Texas, Louisiana, and South Carolia, when you could pull mostly average players from right here in TN?

Does Mike Griffith not realize that Fulmer is not coming back no matter how much he tries to make the program look bad.

Makes sense when he puts it that way.

Why does everyone love this class. With Santos gone this class is not that good unless yall love 3 star players!

What are you talking about? are you blind or just to lazy to look at who we have committed ?

"So Tennessee has only one of the state's Top 24 ranked prospects according to 24/7? And people are saying this is a good class? #GetReal"

100% disagree with him.
My question is how many of Tennessee's commits are ranked higher than the other 23 in-state recruits?

The top 24 is not level fir every State. I wonder how the top 24 in Wyoming would compare to the top 24 in Texas or Georgia

Another media As- hole who needs to change professions.

You missed my point. I wasn't even talking about 10 guys in particular. I was simply saying that had he cut the argument to say 10 guys instead of 24 his argument would look a little more valid. I was just giving out 10 as a ball-park figures.

As for me, Jelks, Hill (Massively Underated), Redmond and Kimbrow are guys I would have liked for sure. At least one offensive lineman in this class would have been nice and there were definitely some good ones in-state this year.

I think Robinson is probably the top overall guy in the state this year but his grade questions certainly draw a red flag. Then again I'll have to see it to believe it when it comes for him not suiting up for Auburn next year. Brandon Fulse seemingly had no chance last year at this time and we all know how that turned out.

I gotcha. I just don't see how we can worry about getting in-state guys in the 2012 class when we've got better out-of-state guys. Defensively, the TN class of 2012 is extremely weak, which was again a big need for this class. Also, people are not realizing how small Kimbrow is right now. His impact, IMO, will be minimal next year. Jelks is a project. No way he touches the field next year, IMO. He is too small for a collegiate OT right now. I'd take Redmond. That's about it. It's not like we didn't try with the RBs, though. We gave Robinson and Mathers attention. Robinson has grade concerns, and Mathers didn't want any part of UT.
