Mike Bianchi article about the program

Truth hurts.

BUT, all it takes is the right coach to exit football purgatory. Just ask Clemson (sucked for decades) and Alabama (sucked for a decade) about what it means to make the right hire. And there are numerous other examples Oklahoma (Stoops), USC (Carroll)....

He is wrong about one point. If Florida could have scored 50 points on us, Mullen would have. I fully believe that. Wait till Alabama gets hold of those gators.
They had about 25 yards rushing on about as many carries. But we play an UNcover 2 defense—- for those not familiar with terminology, that’s where you don’t cover at least 2 receivers on every play.
Bama will probably use a different strategy

I find it ironic how he completely overlooks the fact that Florida was in just about the same situation as us a few short years ago. They were able to come out of it, but Tennessee never will? Really???

Of course, this also shows how important a head coach hire can be to a program. Bargain-basement hires lead to bargain-basement results.
2nd paragraph yes

But when did Florida lose 7+ in a row by double digits?
Don't buy that Florida was even close to this bad

Spot on and shows what a pathetic joke we’ve become. This is the worst shape I’ve seen the program in my lifetime and I’m on the cusp of 50. Tell me I’m wrong
Worst shape? Idk it’s hard to tell. Dooley, winless in the SEC with Butch, Kiffin leaving in the night, Pruitt’s clown show. Hard to put a finger on when we were at the absolute worst. Tennessee does seem intent on staying in the dumpster though.

Someone needs to figure it out or get us out of the SEC. Step one is stop living in the past and stop pretending that having nice facilities leads to having a great football program.

Some people at the top better stop reliving their glory days and see about creating some new ones because no one cares except them.
. A coworker of mine who is a Vol fan has been saying for years now that the Vols should move to the ACC at first I thought it was just blasphemy to even consider it but now I’m starting to think it makes more sense unless we start turning this around in football I mean we are a basketball school now. We would actually fit in pretty well in the ACC.

. I have zero faith that we will ever make the right hire ZERO

No Florida was never as bad as we have been in the last decade they had two losing seasons to our six. They had 4 ten win plus seasons to our zero in the 2010’s decade and two SEC title game appearances. 2010-2019 was the worse decade ever in UT football history but hey Pruitt said the 2020’s would be the decade of the Vols lol.

Unfortunately, you’re not. The raise, extension & increased buyout Fulmer gave Pruitt were inexplicable.

Someone posted a thread recently along the lines “it’s just not fun anymore” which is incredibly accurate.

Everyone in the AD should be forced to read this.
It wouldn't matter. They would read it and immediately dump on the article and Bianchi much like the settler apologists dump on anyone critical of the program.

Still scratching my head as to why we gifted Pruitt to more years on his contract, galactic brain fart, SMH
Remember that "amazing winning streak" and bowl win that Pruitt had last year and going into this year? You know, the one where UT basically barely beat a handful of garbage teams? Yeah, that i why UT gifted him more money. They bought into the bogus hype.

We’re not delusional. The Vols could have a great program once more if the admin invested in hiring a winning coach. His analogy of a middle aged man with a Miata doesn’t make any sense. What is the Miata supposed to be?

They were down under McElwain, but were smart enough to cut their losses and go after a much better coach, We just trade tit for tat,

20 - 30 years ago when a guy was in his 20's Miatas were cool. 20 - 30 years later that same guy still thinks Miatas are cool. It made sense to me, but I see this stuff all the time in FL.

Is Pruitt our new Miata convertible? Yeah maybe it’s a Florida thing

And the fan base, like every shot taken over the last 15 years, just has to sit nice and eat it……… because we have nothing…… nothing!

It's not so much how bad we are. It's that we're so bad AND we'll keep Pruitt. That's the sign of a loser program. Thanks Phil!

When Pruitt is fired, Phil needs to be fired as well. I'm not mad that he took a shot on Pruitt; I'm mad because the fool extended him and gave him a raise for literally nothing. That would get you fired at most any other university but because we have a bunch of old dudes in our fan base that can't admit Phil has or does do anything wrong, we refuse to hold him accountable.

I'm sure it varies by region, but I would not put the Miata at the top of anyone's midlife crisis wishlist. No offense to Miata drivers. I'm a Subaru nut so I can't throw shade, but still...
