Michigan Contacted CBJ per FootballScoop (merged)

Knowing what I know a D1 b ball coach and a football coach once said is you are never sure how long you have so you make as much money as you can for as long as you can and take care of your family for life.

Butch cares more for his family than he does Tennessee or us jack wagons. If close financially, he stays as long as they all enjoy living here. If it is several million dollars difference considering term and/or buyouts, he goes.

How crazy/awesome would it be if Jim Tressel went to Michigan?

Tressel has "legitimized" himself by concentrating on higher education administration, which given his background, is a lot of back slapping, hand shaking events.

He's in an environment now more accepting of the sweater vest and suede elbow jackets.

Michigan isn't hiring a coach whose best record is 6-6 even though CBJ holds great promise and the majority of fans love this man. We, on the other hand, hired a 4-8 bonzo from a very lower tier football school...and therein lies the difference between us and Michigan.

The VolRumorMill and FootballTimeMag Twitter accounts hinting at bad news. Are they bluffing to get more listeners/followers or what?

Are you talking about Butch?

But his best record isn't 6-6....

The Dooley situation was different in the timing. It took more to make a coach leave at that time of year. I guarantee Hudspeth would not make more than what Butch makes. You don't pay a new guy what other experienced, tenured SEC coaches make just because that's what they make.

Hudspeth's options would be to stay at ULL and make $500k - $750k or make $2mil at UT. You offer $2mil and if he says no move on to the next guy. Once again, it's all about not overpaying and we're one of the worst at it.
You do realize hudspeth makes over 1 million currently per his new contract. And Stoops made 2.2 million this year at Kentucky, Ken-freaking-tucky is paying 2.2 million and you think UT will get a good coach for under that.

Coaching at some schools is a job, coaching at UT is part of not just your life but part of your family's life, for better or worse. The commitment that it takes at a major program especially one in the SEC is on a whole other scale from coaching at a school like ULL. I'm not sure how people cannot understand that?

According to Twitter, the rumor that VolRumorMill and a couple other accounts are hinting at is that Butch apparently has not agreed to the extension/raise. TIFWIW

Well I would hate for UT to have to go through a another freaking coaching search in less than 3 years and we are just now getting things moving in the right direction on the field and in recruiting. This would be a major blow to our program. UT needs to pony up!

Butch told us this was his dream job. Michigan is a train wreck, so do the math. If anything, he might use it to get a raise for himself as well as assistant coaches. Smart money. Butch is here to stay but if he does leave i'm done wit UT football. This would be a major breakdown in trust and the recruits would bail. Coach Jones is here and that's where he wants to be. Give the main some credit.

You COMPLETELY misinterpreted that quote.

He said: "I did not have sex with that woman... Ms Lewinski".

The "that woman" in that statement wasn't Monica. It was Hillary. The object of his message was "Ms Lewinski". So while you and most of America thought he was denying one thing... he was actually just reassuring Monica that he had not had sex with Hillary.

Interesting take..... I hadn't really parsed his words closely enough.

It is hard to express how joyful I would be if Butch got on that MIchigan plane. I know I am in the extreme minority here on that. I believe with all my heart that David Cutcliffe could come in here next year and win 10 games.

Someone (from 247 I think) said Butch has not signed his extension, and they feel if Michigan offers, Butch takes it

I don't feel like this is thread worthy, but if Butch were to be offered the job and accept it, who do you guys think we would target first? I hope he doesn't go. Hopefully I don't get flamed for asking.

Cutcliffe or I quit. I don't see Butch leaving, but if he did, and we didn't pull someone like Cut, I'm not sure I could keep dedicating time and energy to UT Football. I'm too old for another rebuilding reset!
