Metro nashville explosion

I hadn't read the whole story, just saw the headline, hopefully it was just the one responsible like 95 said.
Don’t hold me to it but I think it is the way it waited for bomb squad to approach. Think law enforcement was the target

Yeah, I just saw about the "shots fired" call just before it happened

Doesn’t that also lend into getting people scared and away from there? Preliminary reports haven’t shown there were actually any shots fired or just recorded. Would like to see what @vol445 thinks on this.
A witness said the first shots came about 4:30-4:40 am then another round of shots came around 5ish. Then the countdown started at 6:00 she was 3 stories above it and left around 6:10 but when it didn’t go off started returning home. Was close to the blast in her vehicle and saw the bomb squad officers get blown across the street. So far she’s been the best witness. I’m telling it because she has already been on the radio and told what she saw. At this point it’s best knowledge we have or at least until I went home for Christmas.
the more I find out the more I really believe it was just to draw law enforcement in. I responded to an explosion this morning come to find out it was from the downtown explosion that’s how far the blast was felt. 20 to 30 miles away

If it was a draw in, then thankfully the timing was off, had to have been. Good grief, makes you wonder what the shots were for, if no real target, huh. I’d say you’re right. First responders probably were the target. Thank God, they didn’t succeed.

Sounds like the bomber didn’t want to kill anyone else besides themselves.

I dunno, I got a different impression. Some of this is just speculation, but there was a timer set to 15 min and it went off, from what I understand, before the 15 min expired. There was a message being played from the RV before it happened. Of a woman repeating,"All buildings in this area must be evacuated now. If you can hear this message, evacuate now.". I can only speculate on their motives, but either they didn't want to hurt anyone or it could have been a way to lure people out for the explosion.

The cops responded to the scene and were evacuating people but telling them to leave through the back of their buildings. One of the officers was thrown to the ground from the explosion.

Their target though seemed to be the AT&T building. In California, for example, there is a joint AT&T and NSA building which is blurred on google maps. The Nashville one is also blurred out. Though I'm not sure if this means that the building also is government related. Or if the culprit was trying to distact people or test the response of severing communications like that.

This is a link related to the NSA's "Room 641A" which is the one in California. AT&T was holding a server that was dedicated to their operations. Room 641A - Wikipedia

I do think though that it sounds like they were trying to at least lure the police in. What with the gunshots before. I just don't know if that was all there was to it. And I somehow doubt this is the last one we'll see.

This channel on youtube has been covering the event and had some thoughts on it like I did:

That's what I'm thinking too, but why choose to do it right in the middle of downtown Nashville? Why not drive out in the middle of nowhere so no surrounding people or property have a chance to be impacted?
I think it was someone going postal probably a at&t employee

Cell service is still out in Tennessee and Kentucky. The place blown up is a C.O hub that sends service east north and south.
