Met Eric Ainge today

"Met him in college. Can't listen to his show as a result

I actually know Eric (I know, everyone always claims to know everyone here but you will have to take my word for it). He has grown up a lot. After he broke his neck on the goal post during the LSU game our athletic department, attempting to help him, gave him a ton of pain medication. The rest is history and well documented. Through those trials, addictions he has had to grow up and mature. Sure, he can still be impetuous, like his Butch Jones comments last season, but he will reason with you.

I figured as much. Most people grow up and change. I met him I think it was before his Sophomore season. Before any problems.

My Eric Ainge story is that my youngest daughter Neyland was born in the 3rd or 4th quarter of the 2007 SEC Championship game. It would have been glorious to tell people that she was born while we were winning the SEC.

He threw those picks shortly after she was born.

He seems like a good dude and after some anger management classes, I have learned to forgive.

  • Liked him as a player.
  • Liked his first show.
  • Thought he was a tool on the SEC Gameday interview last year.
  • Came off as an even bigger tool in the Currie text leaks and shots at Kiffen on Twitter
  • Trying to like his current show until he's a tool again publicly

I remember seeing some very hot girls wearing shirts that said "Mrs. Ainge" back when he played and being very jealous of the dude. I bet he got some serious tail back in the day.

Ainge threw for nearly 9000 yards at Tennessee.......72 tds and less than half interceptions than tds...it’s far more likely that he would’ve caught a td pass from him than he would’ve “intercepted him”.

Unless the meeting was at a crucial moment, then yeah probably an interception.

If we had Cutcliffe his entire time here and had he not been injured, I think Ainge would be in close proximity to Peyton. He was a much better QB than he gets credit for.

Him and Bray both. Can you imagine those arms with Coach Cut coaching and discipline?

I freaking love Ainge. I remember during the 2004 Vol Walk vs Kentucky ( shortly after he injured his shoulder badly vs Notre Dame). I shouted his name he was on the other end of the street but he still waded through the crowd just to give me a high-five. I was 9 years old at the time so that literally made my day. Great player and a good person.
You can thank your boy Randy Sanders for making the dumbest call of all time for Ainge's shoulder injury.... just saying

Thats cool. Why some fans have to bring up negative, ignorant BS when someone posts they met a former player is beyond me. Ainge seems like a cool guy.

Many of us fans live hundreds of miles from Knoxville and being able to meet these guys doesn’t happen often. Especially getting to have conversations with him.

I met Peyton Manning in 1996. I actually threw the football around with him. I can honestly say I have caught a pass from Peyton Manning.
