I am not Pentecostal. But what I stated is not False. You our welcome for yourself to study. Christmas is man made holiday. All I am doing is wanting to put into perspective why we celebrate in this world Christmas.
I can not speak to all congregations of the COC because we our all Autonomous. Truth however does matter to GOD. JESUS said " But the hour is coming, and now is ,when the true worshipers will worship the FATHER in Spirit and Truth; for the FATHER is seeking such to worship HIM." John 4:23-24 So if the Catholic Church creates a holiday makes it out to be truth and people gather thinking this and Easter our the two most important days of the year to worship you have created a lie and you do not know the Truth.I was raised COC, however left the church a few years ago. I feel like COC goes out of their way to try to disprove things just to prove a point. So somebody back in the day picked 12/25 to celebrate as the birth of Christ. Big freaking deal.
I disagree with you completely. These are simply two days that have been selected to honor these events. Not as truth that they actually occurred on these dates.I can not speak to all congregations of the COC because we our all Autonomous. Truth however does matter to GOD. I usually don't get into religious debates but every thing you are espousing is like a bucket with holes and can't hold water. Are you saying that the birth of Christ and his death burial and resurrection are to be ignored? Agreed that the exact dates of these events may not be known but they did occur and are worthy of celebration and reflection. The Catholic church to which you refer is different from what is the scriptural Catholic Church, which means the Universal Christian Church which includes all believers. Are there true Christians in the Catholic church, yes, as well as COC, Baptists, Methodist or Lutherans etal.I can not speak to all congregations of the COC because we our all Autonomous. The Catholic Church may mean universal but it is man made as well. Peter was just one of the 12 Apostles chosen by JESUS. He remained one of the 12 when Matthais took Judas place. He remained an Apostle and one of 13 when Paul was chosen by our LORD. The Church and its beginning is One in Nature CHRIST as its Head and the Church takes on HIS Name Romans 16:16. Each congregation is Autonomous of one another and its Truth is GOD'S HOLY WORD. It does have Elders or Bishops that oversee each congregation but its Chief Elder is CHRIST HIMSELF. As the Church we do not ignore CHRIST Birth Life Death and Resurrection. We remember them all every Sunday the First day of the week when we gather around the LORD'S Table. We Fellowship with CHRIST there each week and we live in HIM each day of our Lives.I usually don't get into religious debates but every thing you are espousing is like a bucket with holes and can't hold water. Got knows our hearts my friend. I’ll just leave it right there.I can not speak to all congregations of the COC because we our all Autonomous. Truth however does matter to GOD. I thought freak was a communist, who was against Christmas?I want to tell all of my Volnation brothers, and sisters Merry Christmas! Also I would like to take a minute to tell Freak how much I appreciate his work on this forum. Most teams have a total trash forum, but we have the best ( count your blessings folks ). I wish the spirit of Christmas in all my vol friends hearts! Let's get a win over Indiana in a few days! In closing, do not forget the reason for season. We all something to be thankful for. Make sure you stop and take a minute to say thanks.
GO VOLS!!!!
Wish it was but it isn't the Lord's birthday. December 25th, what we call Christmas is a caldera full of pagan rites, Pope Gregory XIII calendar "witching" and Catholic assimilation of paganism. Then adopted by Protestants. These days it's all about money-making but paganism remains at its core. We see it in such forms as elves, wreaths, mistletoe, the holly along with the use of red and green colors, Santa Claus who despite the Catholic tradition of being based on a real St. Nicholas, is really a representation of Odin, the Norse all-father god. Gift giving is a Roman tradition associated with a feast in honor of the god Saturn. Caroling is associated with songs sung at the Winter Solstice festival. There's more but you get the idea. HOWEVER, most folks don't want to know this for fear it will muck up the commercialism built around the holiday. Though some mention resentment of things like Christmas advertisements and other enticements as early as pre-Thanksgiving and sometimes as early as October's Halloween. It's all about money-making, not Jesus. So, Merry Chri$tma$. It really would be nice if it was more Jesus-centered even if not His actual birthday.
Woodsman, Woodsman, Woodsman. To me and millions more like me Christmas is the celebration of the birth of Christ our Savior. There is nothing pagan in that, it is actually antipaganistic. While I can't disagree with your slant on the commercialism of this Holy Day. That doesn't preclude the importance of its true meaning.
Actually, most pagan rituals cames from christianity, when its concerning Christmas. The historians probably dont have an exact date but are close in the season. It doesnt really matter, Christmas has been about celebrating Christ's birth and the promise His birth brings.
The word alone Christmas comes from Christ- Mass It is Catholic created just as you have said Woodsman. I believe you as well as me our just trying to put in perspective this day and that it is not contained in GOD'S Holy Word for the Church to have a special worship Service to honor CHRIST Birth. We do however get the opportunity Each LORD'S Day to do this very thing Remember the Whole of CHRIST Life and HIS Gospel.Sorry, I have to disagree about the originals or Christmas rituals and symbols. History shows they're pagan. And the holiday has been foisted off as celebrating Jesus' birth when it really isn't. It's goal from the get-go was to entice indigenous pagan populations into Catholic Church membership. Which of course helped swell the coffers of said church. Let's just agree to disagree and let it go as neither of us will change our perceptions no matter how much back and forth we do on this topic. Over and out.
