Lofton was out of his mind in the first half. Shame you missed it.

Yeah, I realized how much I had missed after hearing Lofton's numbers and then watching us get only 4 points in the fist 6 minutes of the second half.

Then Lofton hit two more 3s back to back, and all was good.

Not trying to be negative, but didn't we go through this with Lofton last year? Many great performances during the first half of the season, then no impact during the last few games of the regular season and into the tourney.

No doubt he is a great baller, we just need to keep him HOT!

nhahahahahahaha funniest thing i have read ALL day!!! we got them tigers scared out of their pants!!!!!

hahahahahaha

By playing UT, you give them the reason to think they are on the same level as us, which they are not.

Pearl can now go into any recruits home and say, "yeah, we beat Memphis."

The only reason why they won is because of home court advantage. Duh!

Hah! No, UT isn't close to the same level. It was home court advantage, duh!

What a game! Lofton was unstoppable(34pts.) Very physical game from the start. Our team stepped up tonight and didn't back down one bit. Nice and rowdy crowd on hand. :dance2:

Lofton can do what Chris Lofton wants to do. It was nice seeing him have so many successful drives to the basket tonight. He's will be a major headache if he can keep that up. Play him too close, he'll drive. Play off of him too much, he'll drain a 3.

He's definitely going to have to be a bit of ball hog while some of our younger players grow up. I'm just glad to see him back to shooting and making contested shots again. That's something we didn't see much of at the end of last year and the beginning of this one.

Forgive me if this was posted already, but I am thinking about the Memphis reporter's attempt to bait Bruce Pearl back in the summer about Memphis being the "#1 basketball program in the state."

I left the Gator game a little early to get home in time for the UT game. I am going to have some fun when the Vols get here.

I was there and it was insane. The student section was full by 8. Their "blue crew" boasted all of about 30 people. I gotta give it to them. They had heart. They cheered until like 2 minutes left and we started chanting, "Overrated" Did you hear that on TV?

#1 - Chris Lofton is a fantastic college basketball player, who just so happened to have his career night against us.

#2 - When your star/leader is hot the rest of the team feeds off of that. The playground shots by Bradshaw, Crews, et al are the kind that every team makes 2 or 3 charmed games per year (you know, the kind of game where the cover of the CA the next day has a big pic of our starters on the bench celebrating some sick shot that goes in courtesy of Chance McGrady.)

#3 - Our most talented player (and it's not even close) continues to allow himself to be taken out of the game by silly head games the opponent throws at him. Joey finished with 13 rebounds in 15 minutes.
That's on pace for a 35 rebound night....
Let that sink in.
When he's in the game, early in the 2nd half, they had no layups, and missed most of their mid-range stuff badly.

Simply put: with Joey on the floor and in the game, we are a Final Four juggernaut. With Joey playing 15 minutes per game, we are still an above-average team but we cannot afford to play flat or run into a team that's hot.
Tonight Joey played 15 minutes, we played flat, and they played great.

I really do think the light will come on soon for Joey. The look on his face after he fouled out, and sat down on the bench, was not his old look of defiance, but one of disappointment. When he becomes dependable, he could be the kind of guy that puts us on his back and carries us.
Here's hoping the light comes on soon.

That is exactly true. Aside from Lofton, there is no area where they come close to matching up with us. The only way that we lose is if we majorly choke or get completely hosed by the refs. I'm not counting on either.
this too is funny from the same forum

JaJuan's 360 dunk didn't make SportsCenter Top Ten.

Freakin ESPN! Still no love for the Vols when it happened on their own network.
