Barnes apparently said that they had played in front of good crowds and environments previously. He wouldn’t concede anything special about the environment. I don’t know about the other comment.

I happened to catch the end of the Memphis/Little Rock game, and I was shocked to see Memphis get a technical foul for taunting in the last three minutes of the game along with a warning a minute or so later. I guess it's not just Tennessee that brings out their worst. Hmmmm

Maybe there's a podcast of CRB's post game radio show on utsports.com . I'd read a post that that is when he called out the flopping. Only other thing I've heard was his joke on Vol Calls asking Kesling if he balled up his fist and went after the Memphis State PBP guy.

I saw a little bit of the memfish flopper's struggle after the VOLS win last night (against the mighty Little Rock Trojans) and the 'fish were still floppin' on the court.

I always respected Penny as a player and it seemed like he did some good stuff working with the youth in Memphis. He is not showing a lot of maturity as a coach. Maybe the pressure is getting to him or he just can't handle the losing. I have pulled for Memphis in the past except when they played UT. If he can't show a little more maturity than this I don't think he will last long. I am glad we have a coach like Barnes that is showing class.

Kinda how the Vols struggled for a bit vs mighty Samford? Line was -22.5. Only a 13 point win? Memphis was favored by 15 and won by 10. Which team really struggled?

If I ever waste my time defending my irrelevant team's honor on a much better rival's message board, I will pay somebody to destroy my computer. This is an exercise in masochism, desperation, insecurity or perhaps all three.

Memphis is a middle-of-the-road team coached by a guy whose bark is way, way worse than his bite. There aren't enough moral victories in the world to change that reality.

It was a great finish by you guys, but UALR shot themselves in the foot at the line (even against the minnows your guys out-foul their opponents). Meanwhile Samford was down by 20 nearly the last quarter of the game and made it look respectable at the last minute when Pons completely lost focus.

After the UT-Memphis game you said a Penny was preparing the team for March. They’re going to need a lot of luck in February for March to matter much. This is a lost year in Memphis.

Does anyone know if Hardaway commented on John Thompson III's commentary? He basically said on the broadcast that the Memphis players were taught to flop like the NBA guys.

I'm not sure what this tweet means and seems out of line. It has nothing to do with the adolescent behavior of Hardaway. It seems like this situation gave the tweeter an opportune reason to make a broad swath comment that has no basis.

Yeah it's kind of painting a whole university with a broad brush and I'm sure there are plenty of fine folks there. It'd still be hilarious to see Thompson Boling full of hulk hands for the Memphis game next year, though. Sadly, I had to photoshop these to get them orange.
