Meet "The Goon Squad"

I go to bat for them a lot with the owner. I just believe you should take care of the people that make the business go. It's funny cause the first shift supervisor and owner get a little aggravated I think. My shift always get me a gift and card for my birthday and Christmas. We are a pretty close group as far as work goes.

My attitude toward the guys on my crew is why I will never move into a salary position. The company wants salary to treat hourly like idiots and I won't do that. Us hourly guys know more about running the plant than the salary people will ever know.

Makes perfect sense. I like to think my shift runs more efficiently cause they know I have their back. Plus if need be I'll do anything they will, I'll run presses or do assembly if someone needs the help. I think they appreciate that too, or they dog it knowing I will help them catch up. Lol Plus I keep it as light as possible, I'll joke with them or just do something funny to help the day go better.

We sound a lot alike. I tell my guys all of the time that I will not ask them to do anything that I'm not willing to do myself.

Funny that once they become management they forget that.

When I first took over the supervisor position it was hard. I had been there a little over a year as an operator and got promoted extremely fast. Over people that had been there for 15 years. Part of it was processing out of problems, it just clicked with me. I'm a numbers geek so that helped. They gave me a rough way at first, but after they saw that I had their back they came around. I got offered salary and turned it down cause I didn't want that friction again. The salary people where I work are d!cks, and wont stay past their allotted 8 hrs.

That's the problem with first shift, their supervisor won't do anything. No matter how backed up they are, he just yells at them and walks off.
