McElroy just said.....

I am certainly not sticking up for Pruitt, not sure he ever gets it done, but the part that is encouraging is almost all the best players on the team are his guys. The majority of the best players are fresh and sophomores. I don't care about recruiting ratings, he has done a good job of identifying talent.

JG is killing us. We easily win this game with a competent QB. GS there really no defending that loss, but stuff happens.

JG is not killing us! As a matter of fact, he has become quite the magician. He was able to turn into Nathan Peterman, right before our eyes. He is scared to make any mistake, and is trying too hard. I think he will need a fresh start, and will transfer, before the season is over.

I always find the argument that "we have the talent to beat anyone on the schedule except (x team) to be wrong. If there's anything we should have learned from Ga St, it is that playing with heart and desire counts for more than talent level. Is anyone going to make the argument that UGA and Bama are farther ahead of us than we are (on paper) ahead of Ga St? They were a 26 point dog and made it happen. Any given Saturday we could beat anyone. Not with the wrong attitude though, or any player not doing his damndest to beat on Dawgs or Gumps. All it takes is for the weaker team to play their best game, and the arrogant favorite to take a nap during the game.

We dont know if the head coach is a talented head coach or not. Yeah he has had successful defenses. He has also been stocked with elite talent and very good to great head coaches. Ive seen nothing this season that say we have a coaching staff worthy of any patience or confidence.
Ok then. My point was, they ARE talented. The real question is, will they put it together and eventually be successful as a staff? You’ve made your mind up. For me the jury is still out. Call me crazy, but I think he/they deserve more than 14 games to find out.

Ok, take all the time you need to figure out he isnt a good head coach.

Also, you are aware my opinion has absolutely no bearing on anything? I dont care what the coaches name is so long as the vols win at a high level and dont get in major off the field trouble all the time. Doesnt matter a single bit to me if his name is Pruitt, chaney leach, muschamp, or any other coach you want to name.

Our talent level is near the bottom of the SEC. Agree or not?

I would say better than prob Arkansas, vandy, Mississippi, and maybe some others but certainly bottom half maybe even bottom third.

But the talent they have was capable of beating BYU and Georgia State. It is very hard to “rebuild” when you can’t beat teams your simply better than. I mean heck you going to play a lot of teams better than you and get a loss. You HAVE to take care of business anytime you have an opportunity to do so.

How can you “build” on anything if you don’t do that?

How many players did we have on the pre season all SEC team? We have very few starters on bith sides of the ball that would start for 98% of the SEC. i mean its a difficult pill ypto swallow for some but we just dont have that many good players. If fans cannot see that then they are either blind or just wanting to blame everything on coaching.

How many did Georgia St have?

Asking for a friend.

Can't believe 2 Vol fans liked this mess.

I remember a time when a Vol could criticize the Vols and it was okay, but if a gator did it, especially when he came over in a Vols own back yard, he'd leave with a bloody nose, not a pat on the back and a kiss.

Y'all disgust me.

That's all.

BVS sufferers.... they should ask their doctors if VoliZol© is right for them....

This. If you want to make the argument Pruitt needs more time to compete with the top half of the SEC, ok. But the problem is, he absolutely had enough talent to beat the first two teams on our schedule. Without question. In your second season, if you are losing to teams that are less talented than you, at home, that speaks pretty loudly about your actual ability as a head coach. Not sure what better barometer there is.

Use your eyes. Our players should have been able to slaughter GS. Coaches sucked that game but so did the players. Sorry to tell you but as I have said time and time again, this TEAM is not very good.

Why couldnt the OL use their own abilities to win on the LOS? Why couldnt the defense step up and stop GS? I guess the coaches were on the field executing all the plays called huh? Funny hiw even former Vol greats have put these players on blast for their horrible play. But what do guys like Fred White, Eric Westmoreland and Billy Ratliff know right? Lets just blame Pruitt for everything and .absolve the players entirely.

It's not their talent level it's their mental ability to execute and retain the skills they're learning. Don't confuse talent with skill.

I blame pruitt for fielding a team that was not prepared to play a winning game. Thats sorta his responsibility.

I blame them for poor TEAM play. Thats sorta what leaders are for, if a company fails the boss gets blamed, if military unit are not good, commander gets blamed, its really not a difficult concept.

Sure it is. They might get the blame but its mit all their fault. A company can only train so well. A commander can only do so much. At some point, the underlings have to do their part.

Pruitt and his staff have performed poorly. But so have the players.

Poorly coached players generally perform poorly.
