I hope he has more success then the guy who previously held the record, Albert Toeaina. Didn't seem like having all the upper body strength helped him much.

McClendon isn't just strong as an ox though. He hustles and definitely seems to be shaping up to be one of the better OL we've had in recent times.

I haven't heard a single person, player or reporter, say anything remotely negative about him.

well the way we always looked at it was if you could bench 225 ten times then that means you could bench 300. at least this was true in the case for me and my teammates. so i'd say he could do it at least 20 times. i'd say between 20-24 times.

Where did you play football at Vol Mania?

i can do 375 once, however i can do 225 about 26...i would think he would be around 45. I just wonder if he has that kind of endurance or if he is just pure explosive strength.

I'm a little late to this party, but thats just amazing. A scary amount of weight to have hanging over your chest too...

I hope all this hard work translates into a punishing ground game this year. I'd love to see us get back to just mashing teams again like we did years ago.

You'd have to be one of the buffest Civil Engineers in the US.

You would have been one of the top performers in the bench in the past combine in the Safety, LB, TE and RB and would have been top in WR, CB and QB.

45 times would have taken the strongest player in the combine by a good 8 reps and is far past most NFL players and many OL.

didn't play fball, i played basketball thru college.

maybe it is 40 times, idk, it's been a long wk here at work. i haven't lifted for strength alone for a few yrs. Maxing out once you get to 350 to me is just scary. i have to be careful anyways when benching because it feels like my shoulder will pop out. the most i benched was 390, and that was a month after my sr. season in college. i'm 6'7 and have long arms so that's a respectable weight for a guy my size. at the time i weighed about 220.

The most I've ever benched was 400 and when I tried 405 I ripped my left chest muscle. I agree when you get into heavy weight you can do a lot of damage.

ya, i usually just do bench w/ my weight range between 225-280. w/ 225 i might do quick reps, but the higher i get in weight the slower i go in my reps. i met a guy at my best friends wedding who ripped his pec. i honestly don't want to ever feel that. i take it you still work out a lot?

that's good and all, but the question is can he open holes for the RB's. 9th in rushing in the SEC is not good at all. I know it's not all his fault but it's time to start being a dominate running team again. We need more that 26 yards rushing against the gators. last 2 years we've combined for 26 yards rushing against them.

It doesn't matter if this guy can bench a Hummer, if he can't open holes for the RB's to make plays its useless..
