McClendon Benches 645 pounds

Not a chance. Strength isn't everything, and there is no way McNeil will not be at center if healthy.

As good as A. Parker is...with two guys benching that much it kind of makes you want them in their full time...

Does anyone think this kind of performance from McClendon and Richard might result in Parker going to center full time? If so, what happens to McNeil?

Not going to happen. Parker might have gotten Third team AA honors last year but McNeil is the better player. It will be the same rotation as last year. Parker 2/3s of the PT and Vlad gets the other 1/3 and comes in in short yardage situations.

Not a chance. Strength isn't everything, and there is no way McNeil will not be at center if healthy.

There are plenty of snaps to go around. I pretty much consider the two deep at O-Line all starters...

This is probably a dumb question, but with all the depth at DB, could we see Berry playing LB in the event someone goes down or to stop the run? Hell, we've experimented with Berry everywhere else.

Rico's comment from the TFP article:

“I would say he’s one of the strongest men in the United States,” McCoy said. “He’d have to be. A 645-pound bench? That’s crazy. I’m just happy he’s on my side.”

He would be correct, if the weight is accurate. Hard to think that Long would fabricate the lift.

i just hope it translates to the field. every year we see how great these guys are lifting but when its game time many of them don't show up. especially on the defensive side. i really think you need to be strong and just mean to really play good on defense. you almost need to be a complete jerk. you need the attitude of wanting to hurt the guy opposite of you.

Sophomore All-American kicker Daniel Lincoln breezed past the program’s records with his 370-pound bench press, 405-pound squat and 275-pound power clean.
“We’ve got the buffest kicker in America, no doubt,” sophomore defensive end Chris Walker said through fits of laughter.
holla! :)

Hey, at least Lincoln will be capable of laying-a-lick in the event of a blocked FG or on a fake run. Not to mention his range is probably 50+ yards easy now.

That would mean hes up to 205-210 pounds. Thats a pretty big guy at 5'11. Hope it doesn't slow him down any.

Joke: Maybe since he's now around 210 he should be moved to MLB? :eek:lol:

Serious: I would say it would have a lot more to do with him moving from CB to SS. 205 at 5'11-6' is a good playing weight. I doubt he compromised his speed at all though.

No because its lean muscle mass so that means it will just make him that much more of a badass. I am telling ya we have some head hunters in the secondary this year. I think your gonna see a lot of alligator hands when recievers run routes.:banghead2::banghead2::mf_surrender:

I could care less what jacques can do now as compared to last year. in my book he earned his starting position after the scariest play ive ever expierenced last year vs USCar.

I don't understand your use of emotes there, but you're probably right. I trust Berry to be in position, we have yet to see if Morley will be.

I remember he almost went to my high school before going to Baylor. He benched 200 pounds in the 8th grade. It was ridiculous

That's all? We had multiple kids on our team benching 210 and they weren't even linemen. You must mean 300.

I have had the opportunity to play McClendon in an Oklahoma drill. When I played at East Ridge High, in spring scrimmage practice. It was the end of my freshmen year and I did not play the previous season. Imagine a 5' 6" 150 freshmen against McClendon as a junior. He was so strong, in a span of 20 seconds he pancaked me 15 times with his pinkie. I know the full force of his stenght and I have no dout he can bench 645.

I think the most interesting thing about that article was the part about Eric Berry adding 10-15 lbs. of lean muscle.

I said it last year and say it again this year...a quicker, tougher, Jack Tatum...let him roam and create havoc just like Tatum did at Ohio State. The story I heard on his recrutiment by Woody Hayes is that Woody was sititng in Jack's kitchen eating a piece of pie chatting up his mother. When Woody asked Jack where he saw himself playing at OSU, his reply was wherever I want and can get to the ball first. I like that scenario for EB. I think the term they used for Tatum was either monster or rover, lord he was both and so is EB. GO VOLS:dance2:

some, not all, may not realize that a 600 press is stupid. Been in a lot of gyms and seen it very few times, especially out of young men (and none not obviously on something). Anyone notice that Bolden and Mclendon are both from the Chatt area?

I'd like to see a chart of their improvement since hitting campus. I think that would tell the tale of how good our strength program is.

Berry blitzing from the corner could really cause some problems. 210 lbs coming at you at full speed is going to rattle some QB's.

Keep that thought! He is going to rattle some heads this fall.

BTW... word is... nobody can break Berry's tackle on the new NCAA '09 game. EA Sports got that right! Now, they just need to put in some feature where we can line Tebow up on one goal line and Berry on the other and let them go full speed so they meet heads around Tebow's 20 yard line.
