Maze blames Craft

okay, we agree to disagree. I've seen this movie before. You disagree with eric berry too, and as far as i know, he didn't play basketball. enjoy the evening. thanks for the debate.

LOL, I'm sorry, but what does Eric Berry have to do with this dialogue? He's just as entitled to his opinion as I am mine. Did I love Berry as a player? Hell yeah, but that doesn't mean I take his opinion on things as gospel. It almost seems like you're saying I'm somehow less a Vol fan because I disagree with EB. Is that what you are suggesting?

Regardless of whether he played for Pearl, I'm sure Berry was exposed to Pearl. As I said before, Pearl is very charismatic. Young players like him. Since you and EB are tight, ask him if he's actually read the LOA and researched the sanctions and punishments that Pearl and the university face.

Meh, that's probably a bit snarky and I apologize, but MANY people form opinions without researching all the facts. I honestly have my doubts that most of the Pearl supporters have really done their homework to see what a mess Pearl has created. They see only the side of what they believe is right. They fail to realize that as it pertains to the university and Pearl's continued employment or lack thereof, it only matters what the NCAA thinks is right. They wield the power. You can believe it's unfair and think it's not right, but the university HAS to take into account how the NCAA feels. They are the governing board of college athletics.

Whether you agree if the rules are fair or unfair, these are the rules Bruce Pearl agreed to abide by. That's a stipulation of being a college coach. Doctors have the Hippocratic oath, soldiers swear to uphold the Constitution, and coaches agree to follow the NCAA bylaws. It is what it is. I find it hard to say it's not right when these are the rules you agreed to follow. Coaching was his chosen profession. No one forced him into it. He had a passion, he followed it, he broke the rules he promised to uphold. It really is that simple. So to say it's not right is just plain wrong.

I freely admit I did not read the full post and at this minute, you are a far bigger UT fan than I, er, should it be "me", you win.

Never claimed I was a bigger UT fan. ProPearl posters normally complain about a lack of civil discourse. That's what I was trying to provide. Sorry it offended you. Good night. :hi:

I am not a Pearl supporter sir, I am a UT supporter, and what is required now is an understanding. Why do so many people, fans, former players, in any sport, choose to defend a coach who so blatantly broke the rules? Maybe, they don't agree with the rule, maybe, in recruiting there is a different set of rules, maybe this administration with a new president and chancellor, have a new set of rules, maybe the new NCAA president wants to send a message. I don't know. I know this. Nothing went on here that isin't going on in spades somewhere else.

A rule WAS broken, but no crime was committed, and Pearl must pay, he has and as of today some folks are really happy about it. Mr. Maze is trying to figure things out, me too.

The problem is the message that the NCAA has sent 19 times before over the last two years.

Precedent indicates show-cause for Pearl - College Basketball Nation Blog - ESPN

You side with the NCAA sir. I do not. The NCAA was put into place to set rules for the violent injuries produced on the football field. They have failed and prospered anyway.Mr. Maze had an opinion, ignore it if you choose.

I'm in law school. Never pretended to be anything that I'm not nor do I think it makes me any more qualified on any subject than any of the rest of you guys. Simply a screen name. Get over it.

How do you have time to spend so much of it on a message board while in law school? Just asking cause thats a ton of posts. Holy smokey thats like 10 a day for two years.

I believe you. What school?

I've asked the same question. He strangely has no problem advertising being a law student, but clams up on the details.

Strangely entertaining indeed.

I've already told you I don't care a bit to talk law school; just shoot me a PM; I'm not going to broadcast it on the board mainly because I don't think anyone cares nor should they. Strangely, I've never received the PM.

I know why you wont tell. Stop hiding behind a computer throwing stones. Its unbecoming.

Doesn't anyone find it kind of strange that Craft decommitted then committed to Ohio State right after coach Matta found the picture of him and Bruce at the BBQ...from what I heard, Matta was at Crafts house on a recruiting visit and saw the picture....then mysteriously Craft commits to Ohio State....just seems fishy....just sayin

And I thought it was impossible to hate OSU more than I did...Huh, the level of my hatred for them seems unbound by any arbitrary boundaries. That's one positive to come out of this mess.

I understand the events. I can also understand Maze's feelings. And I don't know why we need to "disown" Maze for that.

Because there is a certain group of elitist posters here that think if you do not agree with their assesment you are a inbred, redneck, uneducated idiot that doesn't deserve a voice.

It reminds me of politics these days.

Few things are black & white. Maze was likely responding to these comments with the fresh emotions of this just occuring to his beloved coach. Lets not hang him in effegy here, albeit he is responsible for what he says but give him a break. You must admit as a Pearl player & college athelete he does have a unique perspective that the rooms brightest here do not.

No, you don't. Shoot me a PM if you want to talk about law school and where I go, and I'd be glad to talk to you as I have with several others on here; somehow, I don't think you do anyway, so drop it.

I think he won't tell because it's none of anyone's damn business.

Do we really need a more sinister reason? I'm not telling you where I live or work, either.

To be fair, this world does seem to contain a bunch of redneck uneducated idiots.

If Craft was asked by investigators and told the truth then there is no reason for anyone to be bashing him. No one knows the details of how it went down.

Someone had to initially report the cookout. The NCAA just started asking questions for the heck of it? From what I've gathered, Craft and/or his father told Matta about it.

Look, I will agree Pearl needed to go, but don't pretend you have an ounce of objectivity when speaking of Pearl.

Believe me when I tell you none of those posters are remotely near what could be called an elitist. I think they would like to think their opinions are more valid than others, but they aren't, trust me.

Look , i found another one......

The term redneck started when unionized West Virgina Coal miners wore red bandanas around their necks to show solidarity to their non union bretheren in Eastern West Virginia which was forced to work long hours, 6-7 days a week in hazourdous work conditions while living in company owned houses and buyng goods at an increased price, also owned by the coal companies. The western Miners marched eastward to rally against the Coal companies curruption and tyranny which ultimatley led to a shoot out on a West Virginia Mountain side in which the army was called in to clean up.

Thanks for making my point though.

Sorry if my sarcasm wasn't showing. it was supposed to have been when i made that statement.

I apologize for my posts after #100 last night. All I was trying to say, is that former players are making some comments. Many of those comments are in support of the coach at this difficult time. Others seem to be sending a message. Some people may care, others may not. I do care, however, I realize it is of no consequence in the grand scheme of things.

I think, even though Berry supports Pearl, he was suggesting the administration was doing to the basketball team, what in his view, they did to the football team before the Wyoming game.

I think Maze was trying to paint a picture too, of what was going on at the time, from his point of veiw, and not simply defending his coach.

It doesn't make any difference in terms of the head coach being fired. He broke the rules. He got caught.

You're sickening. You're also not a vol fan nor a lawyer. JMHO. Let me say this, if the lie Bruce told morally offends you on such a high level then you probably should do something other than watch college sports or pro sports for that matter. Bruce is a public figure that got caught telling a lie so it's out in the open for everyone to see and you hide behind your computer with a made up screen name and bash away for days now spewing garbage.
