Yes and that is a huge assumption. Last time there I spent two and a half months...no tab.

A little older and a little wiser, though. Also, I go in this time fully knowing what to expect.

Injury, then patrol failure. I left after that to jump on my first deployment.

We actually cancelled our ROP when rates got so low. Nobody had time to actually recycle, get a tab and get back to school.

maybe some of the targets on the ranges will have likenesses of the code pinkos instead of terrorists or Chicoms.

good luck and thank you!

I would say it is due more to the extra MRE. In the early '90s (maybe late '80s) RTB raised the rations at Ranger to two MREs per day during patrols.

I do know that when I was there the first time, even with two MREs, you find yourself fantasizing about food all day long (and eating every last edible part of the MRE, to include the coffee creamer.) I would say there are less LOMs since the increase in food and possibly less illness/disease related drops.

Their getting soft, 2 MRE's and no Desert phase.
When they start giving you 4-6 hours a sleep a night they've gone too far

It will still be the best feeling in your life when they pin that black and gold tab on your shoulder

good luck

We actually get 4-6 hours (mandatory) while not during patrols. RAP Week not consists of 2 MREs per day plus a hot meal (either in the DFAC or Hot A's). Definitely soft

TRUT!

You are the man!

Although I cannot help of being reminded of Colonel Walter Kurtz.

Just don't go off the deep end!

:)

With the improved menus in the new MREs there should not be any reason to be impressed, OE. I will surely be eating plenty of skittles, peanut butter m&ms, and chocolate covered sportsbars to make anyone on the outside extremely covetous. Also, almost nothing better in the field than hot chicken with salsa :)

I've been out since '98 and the menus had improved drastically from the time I joined in 1985. I'm not sure how we were supposed to fight knowing we had a dehydrated pork patty, dehydrated potato cake, dehydrated fruit cocktail, squeeze cheese and some of the deadliest crackers known to man.

TRUT, do you remember the vile concoction that was chicken ala king?

I have a really good friend at work who is a seabee reservist.

He let me have some of his mres and I have to say they are interesting.

I still keep a supply of them in my locker.
