Hitting on only 55% vs UTM and looking lost at times has me concerned that Matt can get it done against the biggies on our schedule. Evidently this guy STILL has footwork issues and at times shows an awkward release. Lets be real, last week was High School----this week is College. The QB will need to make 8-10 big plays (third down conversions, 20 yard gainers)for UT to be in most of the remaining games. Open for discussion.

Stocker did drop 3 passes which would have made his percentage look better

If he gets the timing down with his receivers, I would say "yeah" ... i would like to see hunter go deep ... he might be able to catch up to those passes last Saturday

In case you've had your head in the sand for the past 9 months...he's the best we have to work with right now.

Simms is a hack, no way around it. If he completes 51% of his passes and has an even td and interception ratio I would be happy.

I think he'll throw an interception, remain relatively composed until he throws another one at which point he won't recover and we'll be forced to be one-dimensional.

He is going to have to get his act together quick if we are going to have a chance at beating oregon.

14-24 = 58%. Plus stocker dropped three passes.

Regardless, his release is fine. He had no INTs. He only had one batted ball at the line. Of all the throws he made, regardless of his two overthrows, he put the ball in a place where only the receiver could get it. Most importantly, he looked like he belonged. He's got nuts. Stepped up and made some good throws.

Kellen Moore has hardly any physical tools. Tyrod Taylor is the opposite. When it came down to crunch time, which QB came to play? KM has a succesful drive, and TT takes a sack and throws a couple incomplete bombs.

If we're down by a field goal, I feel good enough about Simms' chances of elevating his team. Something we were sorely lacking from last year.

Simms looks like he is getting it together. In the Orange and White game, Bray looked better to me. After seeing the UT-Martin game, I can see why Simms is the starter. He seems poised and confident. He has really good arm strength and delivers a nice throw even when under pressure. Also, like someone else said, Stocker dropped a few passes he should have caught and D. Moore dropped one that I can remember too. Every game that we play is going to be a battle and I feel good knowing Matt will lead us. GBO!

As many have said, he is the best option we got. You better hope we don't have to see Bray play any meaningful snaps this year. I think once he get's some more game reps he'll settle in just like Crompton did last year.

Did you guys see those passes that Stocker dropped? Simms is not going to get it done, and neither is Bray this year so I say we take our punishment with Bray and let him develop with the rest of our Freshman on offense.

Notice who Bray's first 2 passes/completions went to? Our best offensive threat.

Look at our QBs last year. Crompton had tools, and I get the feeling he probably looked at a playbook a lot but was thinking more about who'd he'd try to hit on after the game and get rejected by, rather than the game at hand. Remember him picking his ass off the turf and begging the refs for flags? Nick Stephens put no effort into anything. Now we have a guy who is liked by his teammates, they believe in him, they think he'll lead them to the promised land, and people are worried about his footwork. Here's a newsflash: This is college ball. The QB with the most guts who can stay cool and complete the most passes, get you first downs, or is gonna elevate the play around those around him is gonna be the one who gets the job done.

Stocker dropped 3... Moore dropped 1... He threw 2 away. Thats 6 passes right there. You take those away and he was 14 of 18.

this will change. the height of his passes looked great... against undersized, lower caliber athletes.

but like someone else said, he's our quarterback for good or ill... i'll be his biggest fan

If it makes you feel any better John Brantley and Jordon Jefferson did not look much better. Simms as a whole, did not look all that bad IMO. He dang sure did not open the drive up with an interception like Jonathon Crompton did last year against the "Hill Toppers".
