Geniune question here besides some film study and touching bas with your players, what do NFL Coaches do during the off season? Besides what I assume is adding to the playbook, they dont have to recruit and their players are professionals that have team and personal trainers.

College is constant recruiting, traveling to scout, checking in on players, etc.

Look I know a former quite successful NFL head coach and in his opinion - college coaching and hours etc. are significantly more demanding than NFL. It is somewhat harder to compare with the age difference of players but a coach with a successful NFL tenure would be reluctant to go back to college in most cases. We are talking about coordinators/position coaches and not the lower level assistants to the assistant coaches of which there are amazing numbers of.

Maybe not working harder, but they spend more time recruiting and babysitting 18-20yr olds, instead of working on Xs and Os. NFL coaches do have more of an "off-season".

Goes to show how this program is viewed by the coaching fraternity. We can't just go out and buy any coach we want. Fans need to stop the firing talk everytime things get rough and get behind this coaching staff. We really need this guy to succeed. I'll admit he wasnt a guy I wanted UT to hire, but now that he's the head coach, I'm going to back him to the hilt. Really we have no choice.

Not gonna happen with this fan base. Look at the basketball program. Barnes is the best BB coach we have had in modern history. Yet he has lost some tough games this year. People saying oh he is underachieving and not that good.

Watch what happens this year. If we don’t get Ty Simpson and many of the other instate guys for 2922, it will be are told you JH can’t recruit. We suck. Once JH loses a game he shouldn’t, there will be calls that he sucks, White sucks and they both need to be fired.

This makes sense. But, I remember Spurrier complaining that he didn’t have enough time for golf when he was with the Redskins. Maybe that was just an excuse for wanting out of a bad situation.
