House was decent and serviceable when he was DC at Kentucky, but I dont think he'd be the homerun hire we need to compliment a Heupel offense. If he came in at LB coach and MAYBE a co-DC I'd be good with it, but we need a more proven, "throw the bank at them" type of DC.

Who do you think is a home run hire? Then, what are the kids they actually take the job? Foolish to think we can go hire some hot shot, we’re swimming in shallow water.

I think if it were Steele he would already be in place. However if Steele wasn’t being considered for a position coach he would be gone.

A name that has been discussed by Erik Ainge and Brian Rice (whatever you think of them, they're more connected then most of the "insiders") as a name to be a strong possibility for the staff here. (maybe D.C.)
Don't know anything about him myself but the Googles says he might have left for the NFL because college was too stressful. If thats the case I would hope D.C. wouldn't be in play, maybe L.B.s instead. What have y'all heard of him and his transition from college? And his coaching history or style/fit here.

Why would they be more connected? Their connections are gone.

Certainly should just get Conklin and let Jancek be OLB coach (if we're keeping Steele as ILB, if not, then he can be ILB coach). He's just a quality control guy right now anyway, plus his son is still on the basketball team here.

He might be able to get another shot at NFL DC job next year if Bowles gets hired to be head coach. He hasn’t been in the college game since 2002. We seem willing to take the risk but the candidates don’t want to.
