Mass Effect: Andromeda

I've heard mixed reviews on this so far.

For those that have played it, would you say it's still a buy?

I'be been a big fan of the series but I've heard it's been somewhat of a letdown by several people.

I got it at launch on the Xbox One. I've played about 5 hours and got kind of bored with it. I'll finish it but right now it's kind of meh to me. And I love the original trilogy.

you have to build into it. which kinda sucks, but it makes it very rewarding towards the end.

the game is slow until you get your first colony up and running and then it gets a lot better as you get more freedom, unlock more stuff.

that being said I never really felt tied to my first Ryder character like I did Shepard, but I tailored each of my responses to the conversation. I am doing a second play through and not even 25% done but I am being much more sarcastic/playful and I am noticing a bigger difference, more likable character.

If you treat it as a brand new game and not an extension of the original trilogy, I think it's a pretty good game..... Especially with the price drop. I still play it 2 to 3 times a week and haven't come anywhere close really to even halfway through the story. I think the combat is better than its ever been in ME..... JMO

After a few months I finally decided to dive into the game and now I'm pretty into it. It is better to play after the patches were released and the facial animation isn't really distracting anymore. I'm actually going for 100%, and right now I'm at 55%.

The only real glitch I ran into that wasn't a game stopper but it would keep me from registering 100% was one quest had several steps and between steps I discovered something in a totally different task and picked it up, and it somehow glitched the other quest I was on. I was able to finish the whole quest, but for some reason 1 of the tasks in that quest wouldn't register as completed. The nav point stayed on the map, even though I did it. I would go to the point on the map and tried scanning, picking up everything, etc. and nothing would make it go away. I looked it up online and other people had experienced it but it was extremely rare, like only about 5 other people reported it.

I saved before I started that planet, so I decided to just reload that save and replay that hour worth and this time only do that particular quest until it was done, and it worked.

Final verdict: SP content is too short and some of the planets are turrbull.

Multi is a whole lotta fun. Krogan VG is retarded.

I dont' think the SP is too short, if anything it's feeling like it's dragging on. Of course I'm trying to do 100% everything.

Picked this up at Gamestop on sale for 20 bucks. Just started playing and it's fun so far. Controls are taking some getting used to.

my issue is its the same mission every dang planet.

1. make contact with locals
2. 3 missions for said locals. usually involves driving haphazardly across the map (sans Hvarl)
3. 3 monoliths (sans Hvarl)
4. run from scary wind
5. painful process of talking to the ark which induces a face punching rage of every admin you have to talk too.

Yeah they really shouldn't have made every planet so cookie cutter.

Plus some of the tasks they make you go back to the planet and talk to the person face to face; with all that technology you can't just do a facetime?

also I never understood why shepard never had a camera on that omni tool. story line becomes a lot simpler.

I will say I'm sick of these tasks that have random points where you find what you're looking for and no nav points.

Speaking of which, I will say this.

Running around the Tempest >>>> running around the Normandy.

the loads are way worse on the Tempest. if by running around you mean the actual virtual run itself, yeah. but getting from the bridge to any of the support areas suck.

i also like how the captains quarters is even more worthless than in the original series.

The memorial of fallen teammates and Seth Green on the Normandy makes it the superior ship for me.

Maybe platform difference. Mine loaded fast on the rig.

Did anyone beat this on Insanity? I'm trying now as it's the last achievement I don't have. I should be able to do it as I'm at level 113, and I'm only doing the bare minimum (no side missions). So far even with all that, I've died a few times; enemies are straight up bullet sponges.

I couldn't imagine the last fight on that difficulty. So many Remnants.

I think if you get the Remnant VII ability it makes it a lot easier because you can hide and have it attack most of them. Plus I made a PAW rifle and it's pretty powerful with unlimited ammo (hill overheat though).

The guide I follow has about 13 main missions you have to do to beat the game and I'm on 10 and so far I've only died a few times, mostly due to bad planning.

I will say this game has maybe the worst checkpoint system I've ever seen; I'm on one mission and I had to fight for a good 30 minutes and then a final boss type comes in and I died trying to find cover against him, and it made me start the whole f'n sequence over again.

That's some bullsh##.
