Marvel Cinematic Universe

Just saw First Steps and it was FANTASTIC. Really enjoyed the chemistry between the family in this film. Easily the best F4 movie and one of the better Marvel movies in recent years. This felt more like a Phase 1 film where it doesn’t necessarily feel like a linear setup for the next Marvel movie, there are multiple ways they can go. It really does feel like its own self contained film, which I appreciate. I have really enjoyed the past 2 movies including Thunderbolts. If you have the opportunity, definitely see this one in IMAX. They did such a phenomenal job in capturing Galactus’ scale compared to the rest of the environment. The movie was visually stunning, the best one has looked in awhile imo. Made me even more excited for what the Avengers movies have in store for us over the next couple of years.

Obviously any entertainment is subjective to the viewer but as far as I can tell their treatment of Galactus is being universally lauded.

I was grinning from the start. The tone and retro-futurist style set the stage perfectly, and the pacing pulls you right into this alt-MCU universe.

The team feels like a real family. Reed and Sue share leadership, with Johnny and Ben holding their own. Reed is smart but warm, Sue is the emotional core (and finally treated with respect), Johnny is mature yet energetic, and Ben is pure heart—with a fun Kirby-inspired beard.

Silver Surfer:
I wanted Norrin Radd of course—but Shalla Bal works for this story. She just does. Her scenes are visually stunning, and the change makes sense once you see it.

Galactus:
Massive, majestic, and voiced perfectly. His motivation adds depth, though he could’ve been a bit more purple.

Visuals:
Gorgeous overall—especially space scenes. The Thing looks great, Sue’s powers sparkle, Reed’s stretching is smartly done, and Johnny’s look nods to his comic roots. A few rough spots, but what movie not called Avatar doesn’t have some?

Better than Superman? Doesn’t matter. They’re both fantastic.

Go see them.

Glad you enjoyed it. I’m not into the debate of comparing these movies either. If you love superheroes then it shouldn’t even be a discussion. Just go see them for the pure enjoyment. Both of these directors had a clear vision and executed them. This has been the best 3-movie stretch in the superhero genre in awhile. Thunderbolts, Superman, and now F4. It feels like we are back on the uptick and I really enjoyed being in full movie theaters again. They were all fun times.

Just finished watching Fantastic Four. I went in with an open mind and was pleasantly surprised. It was actually pretty good definitely one of the better Marvel films in recent years. It was also fun to see Galactus finally make an appearance. I’d give it a solid 7 out of 10

Watched F4 earlier today. Better than expected. Definitely an Imax watch
I haven't seen it yet but I will. The boldened is what I've been hearing even from sources that have been pretty down on the majority of the MUC's offerings over the last several years. That's the sort of people where if you can get them on board you've done something right.

Very good movie. Thunderbolts made me feel it, as in the characters, connecting to it. This one was beyond that, sincerely felt like the marvel I got addicted to. Honestly surprised me, hadn't heard of the guys playing Johnny, or tge thing, and really got into those characters, they sold them well. Vanessa Kirby really surprised me with her character. I'd only known her from mission impossible, but she was great.

I didn’t know her at all and was puzzled by the casting. I am no longer puzzled.

Johnny was Eddie in Stranger Things S4. Of course he has the 80s metal mullet wig in that one.

Decent movie but wasn’t anything amazing or anything. I guess it did what it needed to do though in the MCU. Pedro was better than i thought he would be as Reed Richards just wish he would’ve shaved his stache. Superman was better imo.

I thought both Superman and F4 did what both directors set out to accomplish. Both studios needed to have a quality movie and that’s what happened. As for the mustache, Reed Richards has moments in the comics where he has facial hair. Pedro has a little bit of a beard/stubble going on in addition to the mustache in this movie if you didn’t notice and John Krasinski had a full on beard in Multiverse of Madness. I didn’t hear anyone complain about his look. Sometimes facial hair in the comics can be a symbol of how much pressure that person is under which could be the case in this movie as well. It’s up for interpretation. Reed had facial hair during the Galactus Saga in the comics and if my eyes didn’t deceive me I could have sworn I saw Galactus in this movie? Maybe I was mistaken? Anyways, really the only characters in the MCU I have truly cared about their facial hair was Tony Stark because of how iconic the look is and Steve Rogers whenever it is implied he may be changing into Nomad to show where he is at during that stage in his life. He was a clean shaven military man prior to Civil War but ripped off the star on his chest, the Avengers logo, and had no affiliation after those events due to his disagreement with the Sokovia Accords. I could be wrong but I don’t think he donned the Star and Avengers logo again until Endgame. The mustache issue seems like such a nitpicky thing to me. I find it hilarious people are put off by it 😂

is it possible that the social political nonsense will make Marvel's perceived transgressions unforgiveable?

Superman was good, but was not as good as F4
