Marshall Manning Throwing at the Pro Bowl

He needs to follow his own path. I would welcome him with open arms, but Peyton is the last Manning whose footsteps I would want to follow in. Archie would be difficult. Eli was a great college QB and NFL HOFer in his own right, but Peyton's shadow is so big when it comes to the Vols. It got downright creepy at times. Peyton deserves a statue and pedestal, no doubt, but his success here put expectations on every single pocket passing QB that followed. Whether it was Clausen, Ainge, or whatever, every nice completion was compared to Peyton by some announcer or fans (or Coach Fulmer saying every young QB reminded him of Peyton). It was over the top hero worship in some cases. Don't get me wrong, I love Peyton and am so grateful that he is a VFL, but he was a once in a lifetime player here, and the game has changed so much at this level.

If I were in that position, I would just let my kid go where he is most comfortable and be happy if he chose Tennessee, but aware that it might not be the best place for him to grow as a person and football player.
Like Eli at Ole Miss 😉
If Coach Cutt had been at Ole Miss so would Peyton most likely.
I don't see the kid coming to Tennessee but again it's not anything new to follow in Dad's footsteps.
FYI, I predicted Arch would be a Texas Longhorn as a highschool junior long before he visited anywhere.
I recall people telling me I was nuts then.

Zero chance he ends up here. Would you want to go to a school where you will be expected to be Peyton 2.0?

I think expectations will be high anywhere he goes but with our fan base, they will be off the charts if he comes here.
Dude, Arch Manning who is only a nephew, has crazy expectations. Being the actual son of Peyton, the expectations will be astronomically higher no matter where he goes.

Expectations are not too high for Baby Football Jesus. He is the one who will bring balance to the sport. He is the chosen one.
Imagine if he "chooses the dark side" and goes to a Big Ten school...I think the entire South would rise up !!!

And yet higher at UT. It can be true that all the saunas are hot.. but one is hotter than the rest and likely to burn you. Peyton's son going to say anywhere but Ole Miss or UT would have high pressure but those people would not be invested. There aren't streets with his last name or statues of his father on campus. It's a totally different kind of pressure.

This was my whole point.

How old is Mannings kid? Like 12 or 13?

Kid may not even want to play football and Peyton doesn't really seem like the type to force his kid into something like that.

Why not wait until he is at least playing in high school to get the Heisman campaign going?

Pretty sure he's 13yo/7th grade (same age as one of mine)

Does coaches son play ball? Didn’t know that
I have no idea. He probably hasn’t been old enough to play middle school ball yet.

Peyton Manning wasn’t allowed to play by his parents until he was in the 7th grade. 13 is when many kids begin playing football.

Cool. Still too young to be worried about someones future in football.

Hell 13 year old me was sure I was destined for the MLB HOF. Didn't quite work out that way.

Let the kid at least get into high school and see if he likes the game before writing his future. He may very well decide it is not for him

Arch may not have had as much pressure on him because he is Coopers kid, but can you imagine the stress Peyton or Elis kids will be under? Hell, Brady's oldest kid is probably about high school age as well.

Some people thrive for it

Just as Archie let Peyton chose his own path, Peyton most likely does the same with Marshall..

Exactly....I was thinking we may not even WANT to extend a scholarship offer. A lot can change during those formative high school years.

Peyton is the only Manning you will ever see playing for the Vols. These kids want to write their own stories.

I have a suspicion it's more than that. Archie and Eli ARE Ole Miss. Peyton is THE quarterback when you think about Tennessee

That footprint and their marketability has led to so many media opportunities for them. A huge part of that is Peyton branching out and bringing our rabid fan base along for his pro career.

So now you got Arch at Texas. Being THE quarterback when you think about Texas is totally up for grabs. If Arch plays 2-3 more years and wins a Heisman or a natty, he's going to expand the family footprint immensely.

And then if he's great, Marshall goes to another place where THE quarterback is totally up for grabs. Georgia? 😭

Just received a good piece of news last night. Apparently baby football Jesus will be attending The Baylor School in Chattanooga starting next year. Having him at a great high school program 100 miles from K town has got to be a plus for the good guys wearing orange and white. 😊

The Manning name alone is worth an extra star or two in recruiting rankings 😂 😂 😂 Ironically enough, none of us thought Arch was going to be anything special coming out of high school and he's the only QB in that 2023 class that is still at his original school

I know it’s extremely early in his recruitment but you have to like the position we are in with him at Baylor.

I believe Cutcliffe is an analyst for Texas.
He's a special assistant to SEC commissioner Greg Sankey on football relations.

"I sent Arch scholarship papers the day he was born," Cutcliffe told Horns247. "I was the head coach at Ole Miss when he was born, so I had a courier take the scholarship papers to his father, Cooper, at the hospital."
