Marquette after Cuonzo Martin Per ESPN

2 nit bids and on the bubble through 20 games this year. Do you need it spelled out for you any clearer? Or are nit bids and bubbles what you strive for.

Claims he wants objectivity, then goes on emotional tangents.

Winning is easily determined by numbers. They're facts, not roundabout arguments over this or that.

Your claim was absurdly stupid, prove it wasn't.

Tennessee > Marquette. And it's not even close. If he goes what does that say about him? I hope he stays but ain't losing any sleep either way

Marquette has been to the Final Four. Tennessee hasn't. This wouldn't be a step down.

Maymon, McRae, Stokes, Hall, J Rich, Golden. That's six top 150 guys right there. Granted they were young (outside of Hall) but not untalented.

Now go on the defense to prove your point while you cook the crow up.

Your boy Bruce didn't develop any of those guys. He had them, but didn't play them. 2010-2011. Stokes and JRich were Cuonzo's. Hall was so-so his whole time like Tatum. Golden has always averaged around 12-13 a game, McRae is the only one that took off and he did that 1and 1/2 years into the Cuonzo tenure. So in the last 3 years, Cuonzo and his coaches have produced McRae, Stokes and JRich. Pearl produced exactly squat unless you want to count maybe the only one and done UT has ever had in Tobias. I doubt Pearl taught him anything he didn't know already.

Hall and Stokes were only "on the roster" half the year that year and combined for an awesome average of about 15 points. McRae and JR were awestruck sophs who almost got dismissed and averaged 2.9 respectively (though late that year you could see JM coming on). Maymon was really the only one of those who would have started for Georgia that year until McRae came on in February. Golden and KCP would have played the same position in Uga's setup that year, and golden would have ridden the pine.

Golden <<< KCP
Hall/Stokes = Djurisic
Maymon > Williams
McRae < Ware in Oct-Jan , McRae > Ware in Feb-Mar after CCMs effects
JR <<<< Robinson

And that's why we were picked 10th.

And the only reason we finished 3rd was CCM developing that roster.

Marquette has been a good program, but in the new athletics world of football based super conferences, their relevance in the athletics world is slipping. Even a basketball powerhouse like Kansas was looking at possibly joining a mid-major conference when the Big 12 was possibly imploding a few years ago.

They do spend a lot of money on basketball but it will get tougher to maintain their success as new super conferences take up all the prime real estate on television.

Emotional tangents...man you have some problems.
You like nit's and bubbles. I don't. Too complicated, too bad.

Objectively speaking, MU is a WAY better basketball program than UT. They have a title, a runner up, and 7 elite 8 appearances, and more sweet 16s. They pay their entry level coaches over 2.2m routinely. It's a better job. Can't blame CCM for taking a better job.

Not much winning. Your claim.

Please mention NIT one more time, it has zero to do to backing up your claim. But hey, you've not said one thing to back it up.

Still waiting, I know you will never defend the statement though, because you can't.

You seem to know basketball. What was your opinion of Martin's first roster? Losing 4-5 starters is a pretty tough task, if you don't think so, you should probably ask Billy Donovan how successful he was after having to do the same thing after their N.C.

Would you also agree that Bruce Pearl recruited players and Cuonzo Martin recruited players probably have a totally different skill set?

With three slashers that can take the ball to the hoop. Why do you give the ball to Stokes facing the basket 15' away when he is at his best with his back to the basket. Hind site is easy but it looks like to me you would have ran one of the guards off a screen got them the ball to drive the basket and give them the option to dish the ball off and let the guys crash the boards. I still think we have some x and o's to learn.

Think UT BB has sucked, let Martin leave and then you will see suck. There is no way that Hart can claim he didn't know this when he "told Bruce that he wasn't firing Martin". What a maroon.

Before I get into my thoughts, I want to say that I'm proud of what the team did in the tourney. I also will say that I wouldn't be upset if CCM was extended here or left for somewhere else. I can get behind either of those outcomes.

Now, I will give CCM credit on the run at the end of the season and in the tourney. I believe the whole BBB petition helped him realize that majority of the fanbase was getting impatient. I think going forward it's possible he has this team playing like a Sweet 16 and Elite 8 team.

But, I'm not jumping on his bandwagon by no means. I understand that every team that makes the tourney is in the tourney for a reason. But looking at who we beat during the run at the end of the season and in the tourney, you can easily argue that competition wasn't the best. In my opinion, those are game we should have won anyway. I kinda feel like CCM was carried by the talent of the team there at the end. Even the Michigan game, I think we stayed close more so because of the players than CCM's coaching.

CCM hasn't done much outside of the Sweet 16 appearance in his 3rd season. In his first two season, we were knocked out of the NIT in the second and first rounds. He is 63-41(.606) with 1 NCAAT appearance(Sweet 16).

I'm not saying I hope he leaves, but it is easily justifiable for those who do. And if he stays, I'm fine with that too and I can understand that being the safer route in the long run.

Well put!

I'm not a Bruce fan by any means. Go back and look through my posts where I got roasted on here for calling Bruce a mediocre coach just a month and half ago.

It's irrelevant that Stokes and JRich are CCM's recruits. The OP said we had no talent his first year. Are JRich and Stokes not talented players? Golden only averages around 12-13 and McRae is the only one who returned who took off? 12-13 PPG is likely the average PPG for the number 2 scorer on every college team in the country. Must everyone score 18-20 PPG to be considered talented in your book? Just because Pearl didn't develop Golden or McRae in their FRESHMAN seasons, when they were sparsely need, that doesn't diminish their talent.

The conclusions and logic used to arrive at those conclusions by some on here border on mentally slow.

So are you and all those who gave you a like and a favorable quote ready to admit that the corollary is that the football team sucked because of players and not CDD?

Not a CDD fan but found it funny that many in the FB forum claim we were bad simply because of the coaching.

After reading so many posts bashing CCM, I have to ask... why do so many UT fans have problems with CCM's first two seasons and use them as proof of how bad he is? I understand the frustration with the inconsistency this season, but I think CCM actually overachieved in his first two seasons. Yes, I said that. I also have no problems with his recruiting because he recruits his system and we're starting to see how that works. Few systems are implemented within 2 seasons and sometimes it takes even more. Take a look at Duke and Michigan. They have great coaches, but their first three years weren't so stellar.

Ask yourself this: are you gonna hold last season's losing football record against Butch Jones? Or are you gonna evaluate him based on his system, personal integrity, and integrity of his program along with the rest of his body of work. Just be fair, guys.

not sure why so many still want cuonzo gone. does anyone really think TN will hire a better candidate? i'm not sure they can. Now do i think this team underachieved in the regular season yes, but I dont think that was all on cuonzo. Team doesn't have a true shooter (although I thought Jrich looked the part in the tourney).

same guys will chase butch off after this year. hope nobody expects anything better than 6-6 and a 4-8 season is possible.
