Mark Stoops has been fired by Kentucky.

Firing Stoops is a dumb move by Kentucky unless they get extremely lucky with his replacement. It works out well for us though. The more chaotic our rivals are the better.

Honestly they should have fired him years ago but people were saying it's Ky, give him time he's a good coach. So they kept giving him another year, another raise.
He's driven the program back to bottom and now they owe him a ton of money.
Seems some of the programs never now when to cut loose.

Don't think that's the case in the NIL era. If you've got people willing to pour money in to the program, you can be as good as anyone else. For all the bad the last few years of CFB changes have brought, that is one of the good. School history/being a blueblood/etc just doesn't matter anymore. All that matters is having a good enough coaching staff and money to buy a good enough roster.
This isn't basketball. That was Stoops main problem is getting enough NIL money.
He complained about lack of NIL every chance he got.

The most hilarious thing about this is that they did it after UF had just hired Jon Sumrall, who is probably their best candidate not just in this cycle but in any cycle.

I've been following this very closely. Expect them to go after Oregon OC Will Stein or OSU OC Brian Hartline. Both have Kentucky ties.

Will Stein was born and raised in Kentucky, grew up a Kentucky fan (until being recruited to play at Louisville), his dad played for UK, and his family is still in Kentucky. Brian Hartline's brother, Mike, played at UK
I actually hope its Hartline as thats the key cog everyone says taht keeps wide receivers going to Ohio State. Even if it causes Kentucky to be better but takes away 2 star receivers a year from Buckeyes it would be worth it.

It's KSR, we're used to it.

Overall a solid hire. Should be a fun offense to run. Main concern is fielding a solid defense like we had a few years back.
