VFL only if you don't transfer out...……………………………………………...just my opinion;)
He played a roll here through tough times and another coach. Got his degree I’m assuming but just wants to give it one last try to be somewhere and be a starter. Can’t blame the guy just like the others that have left. At least there hasn’t been any negative out of any of these transfers. There all leaving and talking positive about the university. So I think they deserve the right to be VFL...!

A little off topic here (though still thinking of the O-Line), but has Ollie Lane seen any playing time so far? Is he going to help us depth-wise?

Played in 2 games this year according to UTSports site.
Thanks, Berg.

Yes Tatum grew into a big frame but to transform his freshman body inot the right type of lineman in Pruitt’s system would have been a tall order (pun kinda intended). He might have had a better shot in Butch’s line system and you could tell he lost some athleticism when he crossed the 300# mark. That being said I love Tatum and wish him well. Pruitt has a running philosophy close to Fulmer’s and you are now starting to see those big butted/ big anchored type lineman that can better push opponents forward. Tatum was not an anchor type guy, more a “move the d-line where they are already going” like ga state did to us. I would say that Pruitt will soon be converting DL to OL. Fulmer had a philosophy on get all the athletic d-line and then you seperate them by a certain trait. I wont share that out of respect..lol.

The "we don't see you in our future plans" discussions are taking place methinks. Also lots of schools prefer to recruit kids that play DL and convert the ones not as combative let's say into OLs. Heard Pittman now at UGA say this on the radio with my own two ears. Miami in their heyday did it fo' sho.

What the heck are you talking about? They can sign 25. It has nothing to do with anyone leaving. They are already way under the total (after grads) even if they sign a full class.

Back on topic. Tatum worked his ass off and put on like 70 pounds since getting here. Sadly, he didn’t get rewarded for it.

I think this is correct. Even if they sign a full 25 person class, they still will not have 85 scholarship players on the roster next season.

I think CAVPUT is concerned with the need to stay below the 85 total scholarship limit. The Vols only had 9 scholarship seniors running through the T. We'll need some attrition from the scholarship freshmen thru juniors by next Fall to be able to sign 25 and still stay below the 85 total cap.
I thought we only had 60 something guys on the team.

Phil Fulmer did that also when he was the Offensive Line Coach. All American Offensive Lineman Antone Davis was a good example of that.

Good luck young man and thank you for being a Vol. We know it hasn't been easy.

Having Butch trot you out there at tackle to face an AA defensive end / OLB from Bama as a 275# FR who should have gotten a RS definitely falls into the not easy category. MT is a classic "recruited over" case and I understand why he might xfer. But, we could use him next year. He appears SEC serviceable to my untrained eye. Would be nice to have as part of depth. Hope he stays.

Butch Jones failed tight ends...lol wish them luck

No LOL at these young men for me. They came to the UT under certain promises and/or beliefs in a former coach. Which led to a sort of dead-end for them. I thank them for being Vols and hope the absolute best in their continued journey. It's not a laughing matter.

Not after you back out preferred walk ons who got a scholly and natural attrition. One QB will be gone. Trey is likely gone. I expect at least a few more than what has already entered portal
