Marcus Spears - I want to see Keller Chryst...

KC led UT to its TD drives vs UF. JG was under 40% and didn't protect the ball.

The UGA game was 24-0 before UT mounted a scoring drive. At that point, JG was 5 for 9 and had been ineffective leading the O to scores. He didn't start having success until the game was out of reach. That's not something you use to say he "played well".

I'm not saying I know better than the coaches. It isn't my job on the line for sure. Just stating an opinion... to your predictable kneejerk, thoughtless reaction.

I haven't seen KC do anything particularly impressive either. But he's the back up and when your starter isn't leading the O to points... he's who you go to.

Now you can go ahead with 20 posts claiming that JG has done everything right and everything is someone else's fault...

Florida's Defense forced us to make mistakes, GA's Defense shut down our run attack, and not to mention play-calling was horrible IMHO. That is hardly a kneejerk reaction.

If Pruitt believed that KC was able to lead this offense to more points don't you think he would have already made the change at QB? Pruitt wants to win, not build up a QB's self esteem. If he though KC was the better option, KC would be playing. Obviously he doesn't believe that, or it would be happening. Pruitt isn't here to make friends he is here to win, that is what he has always done at every stop he has been at.

He is who the fans go to, the coaches know these players so much better than you will ever know. But you seem to think that they have no idea what they are doing.
You sir have a very high opinion of yourself! Pruitt knows whats best for this team and I will support him. If he decides that KC needs a shot to start I'll support him, just like I did Dobbs and like I do JG now. But listening to you spew useless irrelevant information means nothing to this football teams!

I'm not for or against Keller, but maybe a change needs to be made just to see what happens. I've been paying attention to other teams QB's this weekend and comparing them to JG. What I notice the most is that there are a lot of QB's that extend plays with their legs when the pocket breaks down. Another thing I saw was that they would not only extend plays, but sometimes just tuck it and get as much as they can and then get down. I don't see JG doing that. If it is not a designed QB run or a roll out he doesn't seem to extend plays. If the line collapses he ducks his head and runs into the back of his OL. Tee Martin did a lot of extending plays and running and won a lot of games and wasn't a great passer like JG. I don't think Keller would do it either, but maybe there would be a spark.

If Chryst was legitimately better, he would be starting. I don't think the coaches are sabotaging the season for sh*ts and gigs.

Chryst is the backup and won't be here next year, any snaps he takes away from JG only hurt. JG needs as much time as he can to be ready to go next year when Shrout will be the back up. Once we've reached four games to go, Shrout needs to get in there and start the experience train moving. The new recruit is already gunning for his spot with the numbers he's putting up in HS. Chryst is here now for one thing, learn how to be a coach, that's his only future in football.

There is a article in Knox news that says vols coaches have confidence in JG to throw but not to speak to the media and then I got to thinking I have never heard him talk. I can't read the article cause I don't pay. Has anyone read this?

Just delete your cookies on your cellphone browser. Oh and your search history and then I bet you can read one of the articles.

Only issue I have with JG is his staring down receivers and he really doesnt seem to read the defense that well but I am no expert by any means. I dont think Chryst is better talent but he may be better at reading the defense IDK and I guess we wont find out.. JG is a tough young man and IMO has earned his spot

I think it's easy to criticize the starting QB when the offense is struggling. But I don't think it's fair to place the blame on JG for the offensive woes so far this season.

He's fourth in the SEC in QB rating (145.7) and yards per attempt (8.6), and he's sixth in completion percentage (63.4) according to the stats on ESPN. Tennessee's three leading rushers, Tim Jordan (258), Ty Chandler (247) and Madre London (205) have a combined 710 yards - 10 yards less than the SEC's leader in rushing yards, A&Ms Trayveon Williams.

The culprit of the team's poor performance is the offensive line. Guarantano has been sacked eight times, which isn't a terrible number relative to the rest of the conference, as it puts UT in a tie for the seventh-most times in the SEC. But he's been hit and hurried many more times, and some of those hits have been brutal. The running game hasn't found a consistent groove, ranking eighth in the conference and 63rd in the country in yards per rushing attempt (4.2).

I could go on, but I won't. Can JG improve, sure. But is he the problem? Enough to consider a change? Nah.

According to Ainge, who I think is a pretty good QB evaluator, when JG is staring down a receiver as we see, it's a hot read in response to a defensive alignment, of which, he's waiting for the route timing to throw the ball. He says, according to watching the tapes, that he sees JG reading through his progressions whenever those aren't the situations. I dunno, but I'll defer to him, I don't have access to all that stuff nor the time to review it. The coaches like him enough to have him out there, I'll just watch and enjoy when I can.

How dare they. They are putting pressure on JG. The butt
This should be JG last chance. If he can't produce we should start getting some other guys experience. JG has not had one single moment where he showed that he can lead this offense.

The best QB performance in the last two years was the 2nd half of the GT game and it hasn’t been close. I don’t believe the team has much faith in him and why should they. He is tough, just not very good.

I am certainly no Ainge so I will take his word on it as well. Thanks for the info, I had not heard that

We've seen Chryst and he hasn't really been anything to brag about. I guess we can take our choice of who gets pounded by Auburn if the line can't block today. I think JG can make some plays with adequate protection anyway not expecting much hopefully we get a lot.

Aged well. God I love these hot takes.

The only time I would start Chryst would maybe this Saturday so he could take the pounding and let JG heal and be ready for the remainder of the season. That would give us a change to likely win the last four games. have a winning season and go to a bowl game. In addition, recruiting would really get a shot in the arm
