Where did you see this?
Vol insider Randy Smith said Manning was backing Fulmer right up until the final day. As was written:
"Beyond that, just because Manning was on the search committee doesnt mean he actually supported Curries hire.
As Hyams pointed out in his article, the vote was not unanimous in the search committees recommendation.
So why should we believe Manning supported this decision, especially when we know about his loyalty to Fulmer?"
And if Manning is so on board with the hire why not come out with a public endorsement?
Why would he suddenly put his support behind a new candidate, unless he was told his vote didn't matter in the end.
And one more thing, check out the pic of Peyton during Curries press conference - the grimace on his face makes me thinks he's not genuinely happy with what's happened.

I heard from a very reliable source that C. Anderson and Blackburn had had words or issues with each other. Word was if Blackburn was hired, he would not support the university any more. TIFWIW
There you go throwing real news in amongst the fake news ...,the progressives won't like that .., it is funny reading some of these comments and lots of these people have no clue what they're talking about....
This is the second post I've seen where you say people have no clue. Evidently you do. Fill me in.
All I know is what I've read from 2 or 3 articles that were posted here, comments made by posters here, a K-State message board, his (Currie) bio from the Internet, watched the press conference introducing him yesterday and listened to little of Paul Finbaum today.
If you know more than what I do, please fill me in.
And I'm being serious.
Because probably 90% saw DB as the obvious, most qualified hire that would bring back trust of the Athletic Department and unity among the fan base, two things badly needed at this point. The right guy was already in your system, was the overwhelming fan favorite and had already publicly stated he'd love to be the guy. And instead, we got this ridiculously long, drawn out political dog and pony show that hired a guy who was the top lieutenant of the worst AD administration in school history that gave us the last near decade of futility. Imho, that's why.
Thank you. The strength and passion of the opinions here are an inverse relationship to the actual knowledge of the issue. I'm a UTC alum and am very happy with Blackburn's work here. But, daaang the growth of his legendary status around here is comical.
Had DB been chosen, I would have been happy. But he wasn't, so let's move forward with the choice.
Where did you see this?
But you can't attach a name to the talk?
:wavey:EZE: I don't believe the experience Currie has can match what Fulmer could have brought to the table. Fulmer had an unbelievable network of people lined up ready to bring UT back to football relevance again - but Davenport has different ideas about how the football program should be run. I just hope all the sheep who are blinding trusting her judgement are happy when this all shakes out.

I agree with the bold.
It seems to me Davenport is going to turn everything upside down and take it in a different direction no matter what. As long as she has Haslam on her side, screw everyone else.
I'm not saying that's a bad thing, I'm sure she has the University in her best interest and I can appreciate that approach. Get rid of the "good ole boys" that have no clue, but money and have been involved with the mess we're in now.
But, what about Haslam supporting this? It confuses me. I consider him one of the good ole boys. And what about Phil? Is it a good thing to completely "alienate" him? Maybe, but it Seems like that's happening.
And what about Peyton? It's been reported that he supports this hire. Fine if that's true, I'll personally feel better if he does, but again, it surprises me. Some things just don't add up, and I'm interested in it. Lol
I'm not convinced it has anything to do with Davenport. Didn't she say at the introduction, after discussing turnkey and the committee "And Currie was THE name on my desk to interview".
Iow, someone from the same elite 2 or 3, had the biggest say. Hope it works out better than almost every decision they have bestowed upon us for the last decade.
I believe Bev just threw the "sitting AD" out there repeating turnkey advice and looking more involved.
Which looked..umm different coming from her.
But, this is based on me hearing/remembering the wording correctly.
If accurate, I at least give her credit for wanting to approve the hire with an interview. Better than just completely being shoved around I suppose.
I'm not really convinced about anything, but that's part of my interest. And again, sorry for repeating myself but, I'm more interested in all of this than anything, I've got no agenda other than just learning anything I can about something I'm not real knowledgeable on. I enjoy the break from the other stuff too.
how did Martin do with Martin's players?
