Manning Reaction

the truth to stop the Manning/Sanchez argument is this...The Jets have a much better team than the Colts did in 98. Sanchez has done a good job obviously as a NFL RC and has a bright future. Manning however will go down as maybe the best QB ever to play in the NFL.

basically what he said, Sanchez is looking better the more he plays I mean rookie QB's always have their struggles and he looks like he might end up being good... but Manning is one of the best ever even if he quit today. its more than alittle early to compare them at this stage

And if my aunt had a third leg...well, you know the ending.

Bottom line, as a rookie, he is leading the team to the AFC CG. That's impressive no matter how you spin it.

the jets nasty defense and running game have led them to the cg sanchez has done a valiant job and has an incredibly bright future, but he is more a caretaker of the offense than a leader...as long as he doesn't make any huge mistakes then he is doing his job...that being said, he can make pretty much any throw on the field and seems to have the intangibles necessary to be a star in this league, he just isn't yet.

manning said, wow us sitting our players down against the Jets wasn't the smartest move in the world it appears now. Oh ... you mean about college ... he said Dooley rocks! Just hired a great WR coach and really has some class about him. Sorry, though, I need to go win this Jets game so I can donate again to UT again. Oh and he yelled VB! on the way out...

He's not leading his team, he's just another player.

he's leading his team about as well as every other Pete Carroll qb has in the NFL ... poorly. He threw for 100 yards. the Jets defense is stoked and the running game is strong. If they had an actual qb they'd be killing teams. Put Peyton on that team and you might as well hand them the super bowl. USC also wins because your in a crap conference and always end up playing Big 10 teams in your bowl games. You shoulda played Auburn the one year and got your azz whooped but the sports writers knew youd lose so they out you against Ochoklahoma. USC is dogchit.

Finally, the mensa of the Vol clan showed up for the debate. What took you so long?

Funny, I could have sworn it was Sanchez who threw the game winning TD while under duress.

No one is comparing Sanchez to PM's NFL career...just their rookie season.

Well, if you truly want to compare their rookie seasons, let's take a look at the cold, hard stats:

Manning (1998): 326-575 (56.7%), 3739 yds., 26 tds., 28 int., 71.2 passer rating.

Sanchez (2009): 196-364 (53.8%), 2444 yds., 12 tds., 20 int., 63.0 passer rating.

Someone might wanna tell Joe Montana that.

I love Joe and have 3 of his RC mint in my collection that I've had for a LONG time, but his arm strength wasn't anywhere near Mannings. They are both winners though, and had/have great minds as far as reading defenses.

Hey, I'll give you this much Sanchez is a solid QB and I really like the kid.I also like Carson Palmer. I like a lot of ex-USC players like Lott,Charles White,Bush,Cushing,B Mathews,C Mathews,C Matthews Jr,Steve Smith....the list goes on.

I'm not angry at the USC fan,and really don't blame Kiffin for taking the job.I guess I'm just more upset with the timing.I'm pretty much over it now and ready to move forward. What else can I do? I'm not going to hang myself,or eat a whole bottle of Ambien over a coaching change. :eek:k:

I suppose we can argue the semantics, however, the QB is usually considered the leader of the team.

Except on some teams he isn't, pal.

Have you ever played a team sport?

It may be the quarterback calling the plays in the huddle, but that doesn't mean he's the leader at all.

Nothing says "leader" and "great quarterback" like topless model shots in white pants.

I'll just go ahead and chalk one up in the Win catagory.

dude ..what ? What about receivers ? O linemen ? Running backs ?

05-06 ...when the resurrected the old guy ...it wasn't just Ainge that did a 360. It was Meechum , the entire O line went from being a no talent bunch of fat guys to a bunch of chisled studs that gave up less sacks than just about any in the nation. Foster became a 1000 back . When he left ...it all fell apart and they all just didn't have talent anymore.

Doesn't matter if they hired him ...get your facts straight.

The dearth of sacks had more to do with Cutcliffe being forced to restructure the entire offense to evade Greg Adkins' ineptitude.

I'm not one for exaggerating, so trust me when I say I could take the best defensive linemen I've coached (high school level, mind you) and negate an Adkins-coached college offensive line.

Nah, I'm pretty sure he's content with the #5 overall pick, lots of money, playing in New York, and leading his team to the AFC CG as a rookie.

The only thing Sanchez is leading on his team is the cheer-leading. Sanchez is not even the best rookie on his own team, Shonn Green is the reason the Jets have made it this far.

if youre going to act like a ass at least spell your own answer correct.:eek:k:

You missed the apostrophe in youre!

And it should be 'an ass' rather than 'a ass'.

And it should be 'correctly' rather than 'correct'.

And my answer was technically a question but who am I to quibble over minor details?? :whistling:

So that's what Peyton said???

Peyton Manning or Peyton Dooley???
