Agree with Finebaum on this one. The officials absolutely stole the MCB from our team.

A couple years back, CJH (edit: AD Danny White) declared UCF the National Champs when they went undefeated, so I say this to our Athletic Department: Declare the MCB a WIN. Update all of UT's records, press releases, etc. and mark it W.

And, oh by the way, the NCAA eventually AGREED with UCF and that team is in the official record books as 2017 National Champions, so there's precedent.

Per Finebaum:

“I refuse to accept that Tennessee lost the game,” he said. “In my opinion, Tennessee won the game. And I’ve never said this before, because I don’t like to criticize officials, but I’m going to. The officials stole that game from Tennessee. It was a total farce, an absolute, total farce. My recommendation to Josh Heupel is this — I don’t care what the NCAA rulebook says, I don’t care, that should be counted as a win. Tennessee should officially be 8-5. That’s how this show will recognize it.”

At the end of the day, we played poor enough where a blown call impacted the game. Yes, it was a blown call but no, we did not play very well to that point. As a school (going back to the Anthony Jordan fiasco), we have historically layed and and took it when it comes to getting screwed over by officiating. That's why we got the L at the MCB.

If the refs had called the PI on the last drive in regulation, OT wouldn't have been necessary. I have no opinion about the idea to claim a victory, but it shouldn't have gone to OT.

Considering that Tillman was held within a few yards of the LOS, it still would have been a long 40+ yard FG. Not a gimme at all for our kicker, especially on a wet, sloppy field.

Who says we would have stopped Purdue in overtime had the officials not blown the call? Purdue played it close to the vest in overtime because they knew they only needed 3 to win and they had a very good kicker.

Exactly, this is the problem with calling it a “win”, people seem to think this would have been the last play of the game. Even if the refs hadn’t blown the call, Purdue still had the opportunity to tie us and force 2OT.

Absolutely not!!!

We should have never been in a position that a couple blown calls decided the outcome of that game. We gave up 627 yards, 534 of that was to passing. There are alot of reasons we lost the game and that ridiculous horrible call at the end wasn't it.

Us scoring a TD there, wouldn’t Purdue have had a chance to at least tie the game? Refresh my memory I’m drawing a blank.

I would have been a first down.

The missed kick was 57 yards. While it would have been a first down, that PI would have been a spot foul and it could have only given us only 5-10 yards depending on when the ref first threw the flag. Yeah, it would have given us more chances and made the kick more makeable but calling PI wouldn't have guaranteed us the win like some are claiming.

IF those officials (That had Great Vision to call PI on Ut plenty) had made ONE call on UT's final drive, Tenn wins in regulation. We should all be able to agree on that. That shirt pull looked like a Tent in the making; and probably prevented a UT TD. Then add the Crossed the goal line TD . Gross Corruption.

Hate to burst your bubble but we beat 2 teams that ended the season with a winning record. Just surprised Pawwl didn't mention that.

Because we actually won in regulation when the Purdue DB blatantly held Tillman‘s jersey on what would have been the game winning TD. Even if he doesn’t make the catch, the 15 yard penalty puts us in FG range. Game would have never went to OT
