Mahoney: Vols' OL situation 'the best we've been in'

Sitting in Norman Ok I was amazed how tough Worley was standing in the pocket. The OU fan behind me said we should move him to linebacker cause he was tough as nails

Yeah....but Simms was a tackling dummy.

He took hits that were nfl blitz moments.

I am shocked he still knows his name.

As long as Thomas has gotten stronger and can take a step forward in pass protection.

He was great run blocking, pulling, and blocking in space on screen passes last season, but he got absolutely bulldozed at times in pass protection.

Spot on! Handle the bull rush and we are cooking with gas

Bob Johnson goes back further than "20-30 years"
I thought "elite company" was part of the discussion, if it wasn't then excuse me. However if it's a Vol OL, and I think the world of BA's Scott Wells, and specifically the center position being discussed as elite, then from my perspective no one who has played on The Hill yet surpasses Bob Johnson a two time All American. Further the NFL sort of liked him only one Vol in history was drafted higher and that was Peyton Manning, where Bob Johnson was drafted at number #2.

Ok. Yes, Bob is probably the best all-time of the Vols centers.

Coleman has a chance to be very good.

Yes!

IMO, Coleman Thomas has a chance to be the best center that we have had in 20-30 years.

Robertson and Wiesman at solid.

Some will disagree, but I like Chance Hall at Right Tackle.

Jack Jones had ups and downs but is a street fighter.

Kendrick may start at left tackle but Richmond will be pushing.

So that is seven. I believe that Boulware can play, so that makes eight.

Mosley has his weight down and was a heck of a player in high school. If needed, I think he might can handle left guard. So, that is nine.

Austin Sanders has orange blood. If he can make the leap, that would be ten.

Definitely, a vast improvement in talent and depth.
Scott Wells type of player..

The 2s on 120 OL ain't that far removed from the 1s. They're saying pretty much Chance Hall can play anywhere, Kendrick can slide side to side at T, Boulware is a 2. Seems like we've come to the point if you're an OL 2 at UT, you'd be starting anywhere else, which is a very very good situation to be in as a football team.

People mentioning centers, Bob, Scott,Trey, and Fred are among the best to ever play the position for the Vols. I have to add John Fisher and Tom Myslinski in there as well. Like Weary, they also played some at guard.

There were times I was in full Adrianne mode. It was hard to watch. Simms must be made of iron and 2 dollar steak because he took the most vicious hits Ive ever seen a UTQB take.

Loved the leadership skills of Tom Myslinski. He was that guy who would be in there chewing out the other four linemen if they messed up. Remember him more as a guard. One of my all-time fav's. From somewhere up on the East Coast.
