i dont necessarily disagree with any of this. but coaches motivate, make no doubt. your defition of motivation could be debated, but the reality is the hardest part for a coach is trying to figure out the PEOPLE on their team. what makes them tick and deciding who needs what when it comes to getting players ready.

whether that means Bill Parcells referring to Aarron Glenn as "she" or TO as "the player"...or Bob Knight just getting in someone's face, or Dick Vermil getting all emotional before or after a game, they have to determine what works best for each individual and go with it. yes, there are players that don't need that attention. and noah and brewer may in fact be those types, but that's not always going to be the way it is across the board. the old addage in management is be consistent, treat everyone the same. Great leaders however, are the ones that can do that, but treat the individuals for what they are at the same time, getting the most out of any one person, for the betterment of the group or team.

I'm simply saying that most of that stuff is overrated. Coaches teach and their ability to do that relies upon their ability to understand each individual's best learning mode, but IMO motivation is dramatically overrated. Teaching, gaining buy in, disciplined play, proper adjustments and great Xs and Os are hallmarks of the truly great coaches. Mix in some coachable and unselfish talent, you find yourself some winners.

Eight games to go. Do you get all four of them in the the regular season or do you need to get past first round of SEC tournament?

I say you get them in the regular season.

When we win over Florida, we're in baby!
