Games Remaining: Vandy(H), Kentucky(H), USC(A), Alabama(H), Arky(A), UF(H), UGA(A)
Vols go at least 4-3 in this stretch and make the NCAAs. I would expect at least a first round win in the SEC tourney.
Eight games to go. Do you get all four of them in the the regular season or do you need to get past first round of SEC tournament?
I say you get them in the regular season.
I want to watch Fla again to see how they look. Is there a chance Ken. takes them out?
IMO, the Vols are better off with Florida beating UK. UT cannot win the East but can still finish 2nd. If we win our next two games, and UF beats UK, we'll be 1 game out of 2nd with 5 to go and have the tiebreaker over UK based on divisional record.
I know you'd love to give Billy his next "Grease" Job, but this type of garbage is just absurd. Donovan keeping them motivated is laughable. They clearly have two players who appear that they'd want to win a tiddly winks game even at the expense of a loved one. That's why they play hard. They win because they're considerably more talented than everyone else they play. External motivation has absolutely nothing to do with it.Florida won last night by ten at Georgia and own the nation's win streak at, I believe, 17ish. I just don't understand how Donovan keeps them motivated like he has. They must be sitting there in the locker room for these games basically waiting for the NCAA tournament to begin. I'd be bored.
Well, at least LG will have an excuse when Florida gets beat. They were just bored that night.

reel.Don't you guys think that complacency is an issue?
catch. Not when you're men among boys.

you have to only know one thing...LG posts crap like that to get a stir out of the likes of people like you and i. that's all. the trick is trying to figure out when he's being serious and when he's full of it...and this one......he was full of it.Catch, Jake. I don't think there has been a catch. I been saying around here for a while that UF is head and shoulders above everyone else and I'm not afraid to admit it. I think they have the best starting 5 in the country, not only in individual ability, but also in team play. They should win every SEC game they play by an enormous margin. They have to play like absolute crap for games to be close in conference. Giving Donovan some credit for motivating his team to all of these wins is just garbage.
I agree with you about his "bored" comment, but I do think he believes Donovan is truly a motivator. so? what if he is? he may in fact be a great motivator. he's proven to be a very good coach i know that much. not every athelete is instrinsically montivated...and sometimes they need their buttons pushed to get that little extra out of 'em.I agree with you about his "bored" comment, but I do think he believes Donovan is truly a motivator. Coaches get too much credit for winning and losing. His team is experienced and confident. Brewer and Noah come out every night to flat out win and that carries over to the rest of the squad. Those two guys had that long before they became Gators. Teams that have players of that ilk tend to maximize their talents and take advantage of opportunities. Teams with non caring types never live up to their abilities and rarely win big games.so? what if he is? he may in fact be a great motivator. he's proven to be a very good coach i know that much. not every athelete is instrinsically montivated...and sometimes they need their buttons pushed to get that little extra out of 'em.
now the bored thing is probably a bit over stated...it's not like they're the dream team of '92 or whatever year it was....but i don't necessarily disagree with him that thus far, the SEC schedule has proven to be a bit of a cake walk for the gators this year. they have separated themselves rom the rest of the pack...and they know it.
they haven't had to have a wake up call like UNC had to get with NCSU i know that much........so he must be doing something right....
i dont necessarily disagree with any of this. but coaches motivate, make no doubt. your defition of motivation could be debated, but the reality is the hardest part for a coach is trying to figure out the PEOPLE on their team. what makes them tick and deciding who needs what when it comes to getting players ready.Coaches get too much credit for winning and losing. Media types talk a lot about coaches motivating teams, but I don't buy it even a little bit. Heck, look at the pro level. Players have little reason to be motivated and a motivator of a coach could make a huge impact on teams, but a vast majority of the coaches at that level are strong X and O types, very organized and creative. Motivator doesn't describe many of them.
