It was actually the umpire's attitude that caused the escalation. It should have been a simple explanation of why the warning was issued followed by neither coach being ejected.

All the umpire needed to do was to stop and explain the warning to the head coach rather than shooing him away without an explanation.

I called it when it was happening. When the umpires explains and then tells you to go back to the dugout for complaining in the first inning about pitches, you deserve to get gone. How do you allow yourself and your assistant to both get ejected in the first inning of a championship game over balls and strikes in the first inning? He claimed in the press conference that he never bumped anyone but the other umpire in the picture is having to hold him off which is considered bumping.

Yes. The problem is that he told the coach to go back to the dugout for 'asking what the warning was for'. It was the assistant that originally complained about the balls and strikes.

And to be honest, not sure why questioning balls and strikes warrants any type of ejection.

The issue with baseball is that umpires are far enough from the dugout that sometimes things need to be explained. In basketball, the coach is on the court, and in football, there is an official on every sideline.

I don't know why we have to treat umpires with kid gloves. There has to be some communication and some leeway because it's a game where people disagree with calls.

All the umpire has to do is going over to the coach, explain the warning, tell him he disagrees with missing 3 pitches, and it's time to move on. "I have now given you a warning, and I won't eject you if you will take my answers and get back in the dugout." This isn't difficult, but some of these rules and some umpires make it difficult.

He got his explanation. He did not get ejected until he said you have missed 3. Questioning balls and strikes in first inning and then telling him he missed 3 will normally get you ejected. I don't see why this is so surprising to everyone who has watched baseball. When you start the game complaining, you normally don't last long in any level. Why he took a chance to do this to his team I don't understand. You get there in your first year and don't get to spend it with your team.

Rookie mistakes.

We had one get tossed in our 'first' trip in 2021. Who was that? Think he was also arguing balls and strikes.

The strike zones vary and move. These are umpires who aren't trying to make it to MLB. But, typically they are inconsistent for both teams.

I think it was Kivett and the third base umpire. They said afterward that there was history between the two.

I just think those rules are a bit soft. No accountability when someone just says that an umpire missed a call.

Someone may correct me but thinking that is typically a second job or extra cash 'hobby' for college baseball umpires.

That are hit and miss all year. Just becomes more apparent when they have a dozen cameras aimed at them.

Fair enough. I still think Campos should have given the head coach more leeway. The 1B Coach should have kept his trap shut or none of this would have happened.

Arbitrary & Inconsistent. That's the way of umpiring is too many instances. Maddening.o_O

I agree with the bulk of this. First inning, golly. Unfortunately didn’t get to watch until about the sixth, seems lame for a CWS in the moment, JMO, which doesn’t matter no how. Done is done.
