This LSU coaching search has all the ingredients of an absolute mess. It’s a shame since I kind of like LSU.This has disaster written all over it. LSU is probably my second favorite SEC team.
Why can’t this kind of drama happen to Bama? I can see LSU tanking for the next decade with this kind of dysfunction.
Oh, it has back in the 90s. It was just rich, and a great time to be a Vol fan! University of Alabama Fires New Football Coach in Sex Scandal | Research Starters | EBSCO ResearchWhy can’t this kind of drama happen to Bama? I can see LSU tanking for the next decade with this kind of dysfunction.
Why would he ever accept less than what he was owed by his contract?![]()
Report: Kelly rejected LSU buyouts, seeks $54M
Former LSU football coach Brian Kelly reportedly rejected settlement offers of $25 million and $30 million dollars and is asking LSU for written confirmation, by Monday 6p ET, that he will get the $54 million he is owed under the terms of his contract.www.espn.com

Some of those "mitigation and offset clauses" pertain to what happens if he coaches again. I don't want to back seat drive on Brian Kelly's life, but WHY would he ever want to coach again? To me, his contract with LSU punched his ticket to retirement and with that kind of payout, it may have affected his coaching enthusiasm (let's just say he may have suffered "premature evacuation"). Have you seen his press conference's after a game? He seems angry, bitter and snappy at the questions. Yes, some of the reporters deserve that treatment (reference Saban's rat poison comment), however, for a man of that age it's not good to have your blood pressure up so high it looks like a vein in your head is about to pop. Brain, as your fictitious financial adviser, make LSU pay you what they agreed to, then I'd say give a call to Jimbo Fisher, find out what island he's taking happy hour on, and get there on your chartered jet and y'all just laugh and laugh and laugh about how the football gods have shined down on you.Removal of mitigation and offset clauses, and to get two big lump sum payments instead of having it paid out monthly over several years. He rejected all of those offers and now appears to have a legal battle on his hands.
I think it depends on what kind of job he wants. Right after he was fired, it was reported that he was interested in coaching again, and if he got the offset language removed he could double dip. Some of those "mitigation and offset clauses" pertain to what happens if he coaches again.
