The NCAA now says Will Wade either arranged for or offered money to 11 recruits or people around them to get them to come to LSU - including Javonte Smart. I have no idea why it has taken so long for this to become a thing. The FBI had recordings of him talking about making 'a strong-ass offer' to a recruit months ago, but he managed to skate out somehow. He was suspended by LSU, but for some unknown reason he was reinstated and able to keep his job and move on. I am assuming that he just lied to the University about his involvement, otherwise I suspect they would have let him go on the spot. Too bad for LSU, because according to the report on ESPN, the NCAA President of Enforcement said this "...He is employed in a leadership position at LSU, yet the institution has been unable to secure his full cooperation and is accountable for his behavior." Accountable for his behavior is the operable phrase to take out of that.

I think he has skated by so far due to the LSU athletic department and NCAA choosing to have plausible deniability with the amount of info that originally circulated publicly. This time I'm not so sure. It might not happen immediately, but this report made a lot of info public that previously was not known. I find it hard to believe the NCAA will be able to find a valid excuse this time to let him escape punishment. I also think it will be hard for LSU to look the other way and pretend to know nothing without seriously hurting the university. It's likely just a matter of when and not if he is let go.

The end of the line comes for Will Wade, when the NCAA's sniffing around starts to impact the football program, and it appears as though that is already happening. The LSU Administration will gladly make a public sacrifice of Wade to keep the NCAA away from football, especially when there is something like this hovering around out there:

  • The father of offensive lineman Vadal Alexander received $180,000 in stolen money from LSU booster John Paul Funes, who admitted in 2019 that he embezzled more than half a million dollars from Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge. The money was payment from 2012-17 for what the NCAA characterized as a "no-show job," according to The Advocate.
I don't think Will Wade will coach another game for LSU.

Main. That is rough. Some people claim the pearl clutching over paying student athletes who make their schools so much money is exaggerated, and I’d say there’s probably some validity to that. But giving them 200K embezzled from a hospital? Yikes

When this first came up last year, I could never understand how LSU could have reinstated him with the large number of recruits he offered payments to sign with them. I mean he must have told one huge whopper of a lie to get them to believe him. However, with the large volume of alleged payoffs offered, I would think the institution would not want to take any chances with NCAA. It will be interesting to see what the final resolution will be. He and LSU will have a right to appeal any ruling that comes down, but with that much smoke, there has to be some fire. I hope he is held accountable for any violations, and he gets what he deserves; fired that is!

It was claimed that it wasn’t the violation itself that damned Pearl but the lies. Good for LSU that Wade has been openly truthful, huh? 😉
OBVIOUSLY it's more serious to lie about hot dogs than tell the truth about piles of cash...

The arrogance of this guy is beyond me. I honestly believe that people like him really believe they can get away with things like this.

Wade tried to use the new method of making the NCAA go away, deny, deny, deny. The NCAA does not have subpoena authority so if you don’t squeal on yourself and no one else talks there is no real proof. If no definite proof it is difficult to make a case.

Well, I'll have to see it to believe it, the NCAA reminds me of my kid when he was 5 telling me I'm in trouble.

When I first read the article I scanned over it to see if Wade had announced he was stepping down. Not a mention. Incredible.

... unless there are incriminating FBI tapes.

Forget getting fired. I hope the lying, cheating weasel gets prosecuted and becomes Big Bubba's GF in a Federal Prison That's the very least that piece of human trash deserves.

PS: I apologize to all the Weasels and the Human Piece of Trash community for comparing Will Wade to them.

I can't really tell, but I take it you're no fan of Wades?
