Losing the game's integrity: fudging the rules to allow 4 pivot feet?

Actually saw it called in a recent Lady Vols game--first time in ages! It was technically obvious, but the odd thing was, she was just bringing the ball up the court undefended. I think that's what earned the call. If she'd done it at the elbow against a defender, making a lateral move... no whistle?
This is actually a part of why I have chosen to follow the Lady Vols again. Women’s basketball respects the rules similar to how Men’s basketball was officiated in the 80’s and 90’s.

They do respect a lot of the game's rules, but the across the board officiating in the women's college game is downright atrocious sometimes. A whole lot of "that didn't look fair so we're calling a foul" in the game.

And then you have Caitlyn Clark, who takes (or took) three steps on a lot of her shuffle-to-a-stop three pointers ... which are a lot of her shots. Especially the ones where she would shuffle to the left or right of her defender, those were sometimes even four steps - no whistle. Don't know that I ever once saw her whistled for it, and it's been a habit of hers her whole career. Still does in the WNBA too.

I have never watched Clark. I know to look the other way when the media compares someone not scoring 40 points a game to Pete Maravich.

Bending the rules worked so well with Michael Jordan that now days, pro basketball does it for anyone who gets their own shoe deal.
