Looking more and more like DeBord will be the new OC

I'm not a huge DeBord proponent but Butch is allowing us all time to digest that it will be DeBord. Use your time as you see fit.

If Debord does have the option to head to the Falcons I would think he takes that over having to come back to college and have to recruit.jmo

Agreed but looking at it as a parent. Every 24hr shift is 24hr to long to be away from my wife and 4 month old. Could also be being a new dad though.

Congrats on the baby, just had my little girl two weeks ago, I definitely understand where you are coming from!

So then the 99.97% should let the experts in the chosen profession handle their business. I don't know what you do for a living, but I would think you should be afforded the opportunity to run things as you see fit.

Im not sure anyone here has the pull to prevent or change this hire or any hire that is made. I think you re passing out too much credit.

Congrats to you as well. It's crazy how fast these 4 months has passed. Still hard to believe it's been a yr since my wife call me at work to tell me she was pregnant.

Not saying its the case here but we got the wrong guy if we are looking for coaches nobody else wants.

Except if the choice proves to be a great one anyway.

Every single coach in existence today was, at some point, unknown and largely unwanted. You don't get to make a name for yourself until you get the opportunity to make a name for yourself.

And that's not necessarily only true of brand new members of the profession. There might be some unclaimed gems out there that most in the business just aren't seeing.

Not saying that's necessarily DeBord...only saying that if Coach Jones sees promise, I'm willing to hold faith and see where it goes.

I was speaking in regards to the future if not the present as well.
If we hire a guy that stays here multiple years and has no outside interest knocking at that point you probably have a dud. I dont know if Debord fits that, dont claim to know. We may never know in his case.

When the phone stops ringing with calls regarding permission to speak to your staff youd better start to worry.

On a more important note, I just filled up my Jeep for $1.85 a gallon. Feels like I'm back in Knoxville early 90's. More Natty Light for VolJas...

The last time Tennessee won the national championship gas was running around 85 cents per gallon here. Let that sink in.

So you're a fan who's never complained about anything regarding an athletic program/team? It's what fans do and what message boards were created for; to express opinions, merited or not.

Well said. It's incredible how many people, here, fail to deduce this simple fact.

These kinds of sports thrive rely on FANS following/supporting the team (unlike sports such as Tennis and Volleyball) and part of that fanhood is opining on the state and welfare of the team.

"Duuuuh......I guess you know more than Coach Kiffin/Dooley/Sunseri/Jones/Bajakian?"

Congrats to you both. It goes by quick. My little girl will be 3 already this July. I don't know where the time went

If it is DeBord I could see us announcing after NSD. I don't see much to be gained announcing a guy like him before.

Recruits want to know...Allen decision might hinge on the choice.

If it's Debord or Canada as the top 2 candidates as some suggest then I was right when I assumed that UT would find some way to botch this hire. Same song and dance from UT and it's going to wind up biting them in the arse.

Oh what I've come to expect. Such a shame.

If you think him knowing that decision helps then you tell him. If another recruit is less keen name some other guys they like that you're talking to. Nothing official allows for a variety of messages.

Very few posters are ecstatic at the thought of DeBord but this staff is about the sum of it's parts and not an individual coach. Their recruiting as a group has been excellent and they have shown progress on field. This is despite many early concerns the staff was not up to snuff for SEC. DeBord is an oline guy and we could use some help there. This is no slam dunk and I am the last one suggesting drink DeBord Kool-aid but there are some positives if he's selected.

Could you name a few please......:)
