Looking more and more like DeBord will be the new OC

You obviously didn't take the time to look. It's on the home screen, and anyone can see that. You can on mobile at least. I'm not a subscriber either.

Just checked 247sports.com home page, didn't find anything about Vols OC search. Did see that 247 upgraded Alvin Kamara to #1 JUCO recruit in the nation. :salute:

edit: after some digging, did find a "bolt" (like their version of a tweet?) that was buried off the front page that quoted a tweet from ANOTHER sports website that said the OC coordinator job could be locked up tomorrow, or maybe a day or two after that, and that 247 has had "multiple sources" say Debord is "the frontrunner" (not selected). Is that what you were referring to? It's far from a lock, I think, if that was it....

I was referring to the Crystal Ball. They're just predictions for where recruits or coaches might end up. I'm on mobile so the layout could be a little different.

Ah yeah, that's possible. On my computer web browser, there doesn't seem to be a separate Crystal Ball page for coaches, just the one for recruits. Or maybe I'm missing something.

Davis Nolan says Bob Mueller kicks dogs and old people... and starts internet rumors...

and that his weather predictions are more accurate than Bob Muellers stats..

Sorry but his age and hair or not has nothing to do with why I don't want Debord. Neither does his skin color.

I don't want him because he hasn't coached in years, hasn't had to recruit since the internet and social media have become major parts of recruiting and he has NEVER worked in a read option offense. I mean we're not hiring him to be friends with CBJ, we're hiring him to run our offense and to do it without killing our momentum and tats not possible when the guy would have to spend at least a year learning all the nuances of the read option, how to run it properly, how to teach it to kids so they can understand how to run it properly and also learn all the signals, signs, and lingo thatour current offense is comfortable with. Theres just too much he would have to learn while also adjusting to the modern atmosphere of CFB for him to do the job and not set us back or kill our momentum.

The only reason he would be hired is because CBJ feels he's owes it to him since he hired CBJ previously.

Exactly how I feel.

The way I see it is.. Why go out to Vegas to interview a bunch of guys if debord is the guy? If he's the guy I don't understand I why he is doing all this extra stuff.. Unless it's just fluff to make the hire look better.

Hmm, how sure of that are you? What if this guy is:

(1) Pretty familiar with our offense, because it is only two degrees of evolution from the one Michigan ran in the 2008 bowl vs. Florida (in which Michigan's offense looked eerily similar--not identical, but similar--to Tennessee's 2014 offense); and

(2) Really talented at people skills, including recruiting and helping cement together the Vols coaching staff?

Entirely possible...I'm with you on concern, but far from willing to join you in condemnation. I trust our Coach. His track record over the past 24 months earns him that trust, from me at least. If he says it's DeBord, I'll wait eagerly for the 2015 season to see what magic the man has.

I honestly think we brought him in to consult. He knows a lot of people in the biz and probably has a feel for their coaching personalities; coming in and working with some of our guys to feel them out seems like a good move.

I hope you're right, or I hope azzanni is promoted to OC and DeBord is brought in as sort of a mentor for azzanni.

I am quite sure Coach DeBord knows and has forgotten more about the game than 99.97% of the regular poster here. This isn't breaking the warp speed barrier. It's football. He will be fine in whatever role CBJ want him in. One of the best coaches I was ever privileged to work around was in his 70s. Sharp as a tack and knew more about all of the current schemes than anyone around. Folks want splash and glitz and glamour. I want a coach who wants to be here and can help us keep moving forward. To many are hung up on names rather than brains.
