If this guy gets the job it might be a situation were he's got the title oc but Jones cause the plays, Like Channey with Kiffin.

Please, no....Mr. Butch. This has that hiring of Derek Dooley sort of vibe to it.

govols247: Mike DeBord was in Knoxville on Friday

"DeBord hasn't coached since he was with the Chicago bears in 2012 as tight ends coach.

He hasn't coached in college since a second stint as Michigan offensive coordinator in 2006-07."

Maybe reliable info but ever so disappointing. One step forward, two steps back IMHO. Ranks up there with the Dave Clawson hire if true.

And Clawson was hired instead of this guy. He may turn out, if hired, to be a great coach. However, the fact that he hasn't been an OC in several years, nor coached football in 2 years is a little troublesome.

I was actually excited about Clawson. His Richmond offense was pretty dynamic. With Fulmer sticking his finger in the pudding all the time, there is no way to know if Clawfense was the ugly result of Fulmer's meddling.

Its so idiotic to rush to judgement over a hire of a new coach who hasn't even coached a game yet!! Let everything play out, because if you can't already tell Butch knows what he's doing. 5-7 year one transforms into 7-6 and a much improved roster for 2015. This is Butch's team and he's got it headed into the right direction. Trust what he has going on, and that this improvement will continue. We have the roster to compete for the east next season, so y'all don't need to forget that fact. Its not like Bajakian was an offensive mastermind, so DeBord may not be as bad on the surface as he seems. I have a feeling this season will still go well, and I know for a fact that Butch has us heading in the right direction whether or not he hired DeBord or not.

Do you trust a guy who hasn't coached in college football as a coordinator since 2006 and his style is a pro style offense? Not a spread. Also this isn't the time for Butch to be buddy-buddy and help a friend out. That's how you get fired and let someone else finish what you started. I love Butch and think he has done a great job but this isn't a fit at all for our scheme or team. If this happens then we better be on the same track as Bajakan had us or in other words 8-4 or bust.

I'm a vol fan.. After kiffen I trust no one haha. All I'm saying is Butch hasn't steered us wrong yet. We need to just slow down and see how things play out. I think he has a plan, and I feel like he's got everything under control.

The good news is DeBord has not been officially hired. The bad news is he is the leading candidate. There may still be time for Butch to come to his senses but I think he is locked in on DeBord.

@TonyBasilio: "@jon_ard: . are you as Debored with the hire as I am?" Nice play on words but NOTHING is done

For the Twitter illiterate: some one tweeted @ Basilio and asked him if he was Debored with the hire.

Basilio replied: nice play on words but NOTHING is done

WR commit Preston Williams on Bajakian's departure:

Vols WR commit Preston Williams reacts to Bajakian's departure

"Preston Williams remains committed to Tennessee, just as he has been since September 2013, but he’s admittedly keeping a close eye on the first major change to Vols coach Butch Jones’ staff in almost two years....

The five-star senior wide receiver from Lovejoy High School in Hampton, Ga., said Thursday night that he’s a bit “nervous” about the departure of Tennessee offensive coordinator Mike Bajakian..."

We REALLY need to get this right or we might see a lot of flips on NSD. DeBord won't cut it, IMHO.

The stubborness to not think outside the box is butchs biggest weakness. There's a lot better OCs out there. Loyalty can be a killer.
