What do a single city’s education, crime, closed businesses, and abandoned houses have to do with the U.S. House of Representatives?
It really loses nothing when discussing selecting representation. You pretty much just established that Memphis has issues that are very unlikely to be addressed by people living in West NashvilleAgain, “breaking up the only majority black district in TN” loses a little umph when that only black district in TN has been led by a balding white Jewish guy for 2 decades as education, crime, closed businesses and abandoned homes have all gotten worse and the area so dangerous and trashed a task force was brought in.
Memphis has a lot of issues but cohen was responsible for federal fund allocation to help his district among other duties and failed them for 20 years. It really loses nothing when discussing selecting representation. If they're better then allow Memphis to decide.Memphis has a lot of issues but cohen was responsible for federal fund allocation to help his district among other duties and failed them for 20 years.
It’s also possible and likely imo a local black woman, Charlotte Bergman who attended college 5 minutes from the district, would be a better rep for the black community with her focus on crime and healthcare.
Have you been to his district? Take a drive thru then come back and let us know what you see. I advise to be out of there before dark. So… nothing?
Who should get to decide whether a representative has done enough to keep getting elected?
I’m not sure why you keep bringing up conditions in the district because you didn’t explain how it relates to the U.S. House.Have you been to his district? Take a drive thru then come back and let us know what you see. I advise to be out of there before dark.
Memphis politics are as corrupt as it gets and the focus has never been on the people living there. Dems are voted in without consideration of anything other them being a Dem. Happens with R’s too of course but that district is one of the roughest and poorest in the US and needs a change.
Already mentioned but was responsible for federal grants and community investments for the district. In 20 years, what did he do with those funds? How did he help the district? And it’s directly related to crime when money isn’t invested into the community to improve it.I’m not sure why you keep bringing up conditions in the district because you didn’t explain how it relates to the U.S. House.
Are you saying the people who vote in that district don’t know what it’s like, either?
Any reason not to trust their opinion over a guy who thinks a U.S. Rep is responsible for local crime statistics?
What did he do with those funds? Do you think he was personally responsible for the management of those funds?Already mentioned but was responsible for federal grants and community investments for the district. I was there a few weeks ago and was pointed in the direction of the “boat stop”, or whatever it’s called. Basically a pull off area off the river. I don’t know who made that decision or the exact details but it evidently was a very costly bad idea.Cohen did get funding for a new MS River bridge ( the one that is needed because TDOT let the other one go too much into a state of disrepair)....

See hog’s post for more clarity since you think Cohen holds no responsibility for his duties which include community investment.Oh. How embarrassing.
Well come back back when you have spoken to your community liaison and gotten educated about what the people you vote for actually do so you’ll know who to vote for who will help you.
