Say there’s a bill moving through congress. The person responsible for whipping Dem votes comes to Cohen and says “hey we need your vote on this bill.” Cohen says “my district needs a new bridge so I can get to KFC in the other side of the river.” They work out an agreement and either in this bill or another, funds get appropriated for the bridge.See hog’s post for more clarity since you think Cohen holds no responsibility for his duties which include community investment.

Facebook showed the name of the person who shared that link. Not sure if it’s your personal info or not but I wanted to let you know.
Somebody has to be responsible right? I mean it’s in his job description to bring in funds to directly help his district. If I was living in his district, I’d want to know how much he secured in 20 years and where it went.Id say its both tbh. He did help FedEx a good bit with airport grants but Fred nor Richard was ever going to vote D either....

That’s it. That’s where his job ends as far as the money goes.
The bill appropriating bridge funds tells the executive branch where to send the money - usually to state or local government - and they do it. Those officials manage the money, not the federal representative.
Setting aside this idea that the federal government is responsible for fixing Memphis, there are other aspects of federal policymaking in which voters may have an interest. For example, a voter who comes from a district where they don’t teach what a U.S. Representative does may still care about the second amendment and may not want to be represented by a Democrat who would be willing to consider voting for a weapons ban. In that case, the rest of the state would not be justified to pack and crack the district to make sure it elects the Democrat who will prioritize obtaining more funds for education.

Tennessee man jailed over Charlie Kirk post wins $835,000 settlement

Tariffs are voluntary. Taxes are not.

That’s ridiculous. This is what’s happening all the time in England. We need not to be acting like whatever the Brits are doing over there. FTR, I don’t agree w/ the mocking of the assassination of Charlie Kirk and a lot of the actions by those who did that. However, people should be allowed to freely speak and then face whatever consequences may come their way, just not by way of the law.![]()
