Lindsey Nelson Stadium,

The “event staff” at baseball games are the worst. They love to flex their authority and don’t let fans enjoy the games. They try to micromanage the crowd.
We have had nothing but the opposite. There was one near us that seemed to go over the top and I think folks complained and they were gone in just a few games. Took my mom to a game and sat in the ADA seats and everyone around us was incredibly nice.

Our main usher is fantastic. The boss, not so much. When they sent ours to the RF gate, the person they put there was a nightmare. Some upper management wants to flex their muscles every now and then but it usually does not work out for them. Especially the young ones.

I sit above the third base dugout, but I start saying hello to people as soon as I am at security, say hi to Bernice or Rodney when I come in the ballpark and I try to speak with the ushers from the first base side all the way around to the third base side, and on my way to my seats I also try to speak with the friends that I’ve met over the years. I’m happy to be at LNS.

I know several of us say it every year, but Rodney is one of my favorite people in this world. I’m sure some of it is because my brain clicks “you’re at baseball, time to relax” as soon as I see him, but he’s really the nicest, funniest guy. Takes good care of the other ushers too.

I do everything I can to mention him and the other good ones on staff to any of the higher ups and especially the assistant AD types when I see them.

Love Bernice! She used to be our usher in Neyland X4 before they moved her down a couple of sections. We always chat with her before games and seek her out when we come to baseball games. She's a treasure. As a side note, one of our X4 ushers is Basilio caller Leroy. He is hilarious.

Great ushers near me. Your experience is likely an outlier from what I’ve seen and heard. They obviously don’t put up with cursing or belligerent behavior but I’ve never seen or heard them micromanaging the crowd. What section are you referring to?
2021 during Covid they were on some power trips; the whole no mask in your seat but mask when you got up was maddening and comical. We lost our collective minds for 12-18 months. Soapbox finished.

There are still people out there wearing masks…religiously. Without a doubt, the personal protection dropped the infection rate, for all viruses. Flu dropped off the map…

Thanks for pics. Ton of work left for 12 days.

Probably one of those situations where they will continue to work for the first few weeks of the season to clean things up and put some finishing touches. The weather doesn’t help. Will just slow things down even more.

Don’t think we’ll see sold out crowds early in the season with the cold and lack of high quality competition, so they could probably get some extra work done between series and while we’re in Texas until SEC play starts.

Still, doubt it’s 100% complete this year. Going to be yet another offseason of work lol.

Final group
Thanks for the photos. That wood underneath the overhang is a nice touch.

Hopefully they’re coming back, but they’ve painted over the “Tennessee“ that was above the first base dugout and the “Volunteers“ that was above the third base dugout.

Yep. They’ve only had 2 years to finish. Sloppy job of oversight and lack of project management and accountability. Typical unfortunately…
