For sure, the most needed facility is Indoor Track. Nothing else is even close. This topic got me thinking about needed facilities and buildings on or near campus
(1) Indoor Track
(2) New Fraternity houses
(3) Hess Hall has got to go eventually
(4) Large entry plaza at LNS.
(5) New, larger, more visible, McClung Museum (that would be cool next to LNS)
(6) Right Field Hall
(7) Waffle House (2) on Cumberland Avenue
(8) Neyland Entertainment deck
(9) Pedestrian Bridge over river/
(10) Condos over looking LNS Centerfield
(11) Outward facing concession stands at Neyland for pregame - not sure why this has never been considered.
(12) Replacement of the Andy Holt Tower and Circle Park buildings- they really suck.
(13) Doubling the number of football practice fields at Neyland-Thompson- 13 fields is not enough.
(14) More garages
(15) More seating at Sherry Parker Lee
Unless a donor wants his name on the building, I don’t see the focus being on improving facilities. With over $20M annually being diverted from the athletic budget to revenue share, I think the focus will be on funding $ for football and basketball players. Outside of the big 4 (football, basketball, baseball, and LV basketball, I just don’t see facilities being improved unless a donor funds it.For sure, the most needed facility is Indoor Track. Great ushers near me. Your experience is likely an outlier from what I’ve seen and heard. They obviously don’t put up with cursing or belligerent behavior but I’ve never seen or heard them micromanaging the crowd. What section are you referring to?The “event staff” at baseball games are the worst. They love to flex their authority and don’t let fans enjoy the games. They try to micromanage the crowd.
There are a few that are over the top, but my overall experience has been great. Of course, I’ve befriended several over the many years and they know me on a first name basis.Great ushers near me. I sit above the third base dugout, but I start saying hello to people as soon as I am at security, say hi to Bernice or Rodney when I come in the ballpark and I try to speak with the ushers from the first base side all the way around to the third base side, and on my way to my seats I also try to speak with the friends that I’ve met over the years. I’m happy to be at LNS.There are a few that are over the top, but my overall experience has been great. Of course, I’ve befriended several over the many years and they know me on a first name basis.
Great outlook on life my friend. I am sure you are very successful at whatever you do.I sit above the third base dugout, but I start saying hello to people as soon as I am at security, say hi to Bernice or Rodney when I come in the ballpark and I try to speak with the ushers from the first base side all the way around to the third base side, and on my way to my seats I also try to speak with the friends that I’ve met over the years. I’d imagine being in a corral with people moving and walking in front of you could be frustrating.I'm like you for the most part. We sit a few rows up in D (I dont recall what the new section number is off hand). We're all friends and have known each other for years. But, I spend a lot of time standing on the wall or down there between the beer coolers on the first base line. For the big SEC games at night on Friday and Saturday, they've got rent-a-cops running around hossin' the fans in those areas too much. The very fans that make a rowdy home crowd and the atmosphere Tony wanted. The rowdy rooters have to be there for the big games or it'll be like being at a polo match.
