Let's talk Yemen

US Airstrike in Yemen Kills Over 70 People and Wounds Scores More as Trump continues campaign against Houthi rebels - while UN chief shares 'grave concerns' over violence

A US airstrike on a vital oil port held by Yemen's Houthi rebels has killed more than 70 people and wounded many others, the Iranian-backed rebel group announced yesterday.

Marking a major escalation in the military campaign launched by President Donald Trump last month, it is the deadliest known attack so far.

The overnight strike on the Ras Isa port, which reportedly killed at least 74 people and wounded 171 others, sent massive fireballs billowing skyward and turned tanker trucks into burning wrecks.

Acting as the first American attack on a Houthi-controlled oil facility in the new US bombing campaign, it also came just before the resumption of negotiations in Rome between the US and Iran over Tehran's rapidly advancing nuclear program, which Washington has linked to its attacks in Yemen.

The Houthis are the last militant group in Iran's self-described 'Axis of Resistance' that is capable of regularly attacking Israel.

We’ve been bombing yemens underground bunkers/weapons storage for weeks now. Some might say Israel is joining the US
Weeks? For a decade and we also tried to starve them out with a full blockade. A few more bombs is suddenly going to make a difference? Complete idiots who must simply enjoy killing

From the article:

US President Donald Trump announces that the United States will immediately end its bombing campaign against the Houthis, saying the Iran-backed rebels in Yemen informed the administration “they don’t want to fight anymore.”

“We will honor that and we still stop the bombings,” Trump tells reporters in the Oval Office, claiming the Houthis “capitulated.”

“We will take their word. They say they will not be blowing up ships anymore, and that was the purpose of what we’ve been doing,” he continues. “I think that’s very positive. They were knocking out of a lot of ships sailing beautifully down the various seas.”

Does anyone really believe this nonsense?

Weeks, I was specifically talking of the US bombing weapon caches. The bombing on both sides are awful. Like you I wish it’d all stop.

There are a number of other links as well on the subject. It definitely tracks, meaning it now allows time for Iran to resupply them for future attacks on global shipping.
We've been blockading and bombing them for a decade. The Saudis realized it was useless and just gave up. But we're to now believe a couple of US missiles into an apartment building and they suddenly lost the will to fight?

Someone is going to lose their job. This happened during an evasive maneuver, from an Houthi missile. Incredible the turning radius and maneuverability of those huge aircraft carriers.
the speed is ridiculous too.

The Ford can top out at 35 knots/40mph at 100,000 tons
a WW2 Fletcher Class Destroyer was rated at around 38 knots/44mph at 2,900 tons.

those nuclear engines go brrrrtttttt. granted the Ford will probably never really go 35knots, its 30 knot cruising speed is still darn impressive.

Wow. These ships truly are incredible. Thank you for sharing that. I had no idea.

So that was a couple of weeks ago. This is the loss of ANOTHER Super Hornet. Boltered on landing and went in the drink forcing pilots to eject.

Though the idea of nuclear engines sounds great, in actuality it is a nuclear reactor powering steam turbines that runs the ship.
