Let's talk candidates...

Tyndall would be solid and an upgrade over Cuonzo. Those that think not are kidding themselves. Tyndall can flat out coach and gets the best out of his roster. I've talked to Southern Miss fans and they are squirming at the thought of losing him.

Donnie Tyndall/Mike White are both good choices. Will be largely detested by majority of fan base that watches no basketball outside of Tennessee, but yeah

I get that the guy had some player control issues at the end of his time at UCLA, but if he is as interested as Basilio is saying (I know, TIFWIW), where else do you get a guy with a resume like this, no buyout, and no allegiance to any current class of players this close to signing day?

Ben Howland guided UCLA to seven NCAA Tournament appearances in 10 seasons, compiling a 233-107 record (.685) as the Bruins' head coach. He led UCLA to three consecutive Final Fours (2006-08), four Pac-12 regular-season titles (2006-08, 2013) and two Pac-12 Tournament championships (2006, 2008).

Howland became the program's first head coach since the late John Wooden to win three consecutive conference championships (2006-08) and is UCLA's only head coach other than Wooden to have led the Bruins to three straight NCAA Final Four appearances.

Through 19 seasons as a collegiate head coach, Howland has logged a 401-206 overall record (.661). Between five seasons at Northern Arizona (1995-99), four years at Pittsburgh (2000-03) and 10 seasons at UCLA (2004-13), Howland has led his teams to 10 NCAA Tournament appearances. Additionally, he has guided his teams to the "Sweet 16" five times, including three straight trips with the Bruins from 2006-08.

We need a Butch Jones for basketball...

Someone to make it exciting, bring in great players and coach them up...

I would take a Don Devoe or Jerry Green type in a New York minute

If you're putting VT and UT on the same level in basketball and you're advocating Seth Greenberg, just don't.

I would put UT ahead of VA Tech in basketball, but I think the fans at both schools view basketball with about the same level of import, which is not much and way behind football.

Michael White! this dude can coach and recruit in the south. He would be a perfect fit, plus his teams are extremely exciting to watch.

Jeff Capel at Duke. Part of the Coach K coaching tree. He know's what it would take to build a winner and would bring a winning attitude. He ws a HC at both VCU and Oklahoma.

There's a system in place that allows VCU to be successful no matter who's coaching. They haven't missed a bear when changing coaches, yet those coaches haven't been able to duplicate the success elsewhere i.e. Capel and Grant.

If you want a Coach K guy why not interview Tommy Amaker at Harvard. He's a very good coach.

There's a reason other programs have sniffed at Howland over the past year and then moved on. I'm not sure what it is but he seems to be damaged goods in the minds of some ADs

We still should look into Brad Underwood for these reasons.

1. Took Stephen F. Austin to the round of 32, as a first year head coach with a record of 31-2.

2. Outcoached Shaka Smart and won in OT.

3. Is a proven winner at every school he's been.

4. He would be a cheap hire. We would be taking a gamble on a low-major coach, but has a great track record.

5. Reminds me of a younger Bruce.

Contact Gregg Marshall, if no deal can be done call and hire Michael White. Get this thing over fast with either guy being an upgrade.

UT fans view basketball way better than VT. It's not even close.
