Let's talk candidates...

What about former Miss State Coach Rick Stansburry? He always brought competitive teams to Miss State and they were always relevant in the West.

Hyams was talking about him this afternoon, thinks he would be a possibility.

Like I said in another thread. My wish list is

1: Shaka smart/Gregg Marshall
2: jay wright
3: Fred hoiberg
4: tommy amaker.

Nice list. Amaker would probably be the only one I see coming though. But you never know. We may finally pay up for a coach.

I agree but I could see hoiberg. ISU isn't a big money school like we are with boosters and amenities etc. I would be happy with either of those. There sound coaches who have proven they can win

You're going to be really disappointed when you wake up from this dream where Tennessee is on the same level as Kansas

Hoiberg is an Iowa kid who went there. The only job I think he leaves for is an NBA job.

Why is it a dream? We have plenty of money to offer. Nice facilities. Great fan base. Booster support for recruiting. Why is it South Carolina can hire a big name in frank Martin but we can't hire someone like this? You opinion is yours alone. But I trust hart. He brought us Serrano and jones. He will bring us what we NEED even if we don't see it or agree with it at first.

You can't seriously want this guy or think he is better. Less tourney wins in more years than Zo. Teams score less points. Not a young coach. Won't be able to recruit here. No thanks.

He's 43 years old. Won two OVC titles at Morehead and won the C-USA regular season title this year.

No idea why you think he couldn't recruit, but somehow think Martin staying was a great idea when recruiting was his biggest downfall.

Tyndall wins. All his stops. 30-5 his one year as a Juco coach. Took over a disaster at Morehead and won big there. Took over a good Southern Miss team and kept them there with 27 and 29 wins the last two years.

Not sure what this big down side is that Zoites seem to be seeing.

I don't get the Bruce stuff. Yea he was a decent coach but it's not like he was winning back to back national titles. He got what he deserved and landed a good break signing with auburn. No way we would sign him again IMO. Would be a mistake.

Martin's teams had some great runs at season's end. But with the loss of Stokes, McRae, and Maymon, was anyone really that excited about next year? It looks like a rebuilding year no matter who the coach is.
But whoever we get, Pay the man what he's worth! UT ranks second in the SEC in attendance (well ahead of Florida). We have the fan base. So Mr. Hart, find the best man who's available, and Pay that man what it takes!

Yall keep pretending that Mike Hart and Jimmy Cheek actually know what they are doing and have every intention of hiring a "star".

Did Butch make any of the VN "coach search" lists for the football program? Just curious. :D

A couple of head coaches names to throw out there:

Fred Hoiberg - Iowa State

Fran McCaffery - Iowa.

Rick Barnes - Texas.

Dan Dakich - ESPN announcer and former coach at Indiana and Toledo.

Barnes has been around awhile and is considering retirement to move onto other things.

Id like to throw my name in the ring. My youth
team I coached this past year went 5-6...all im asking for is 50,000 a year and a house!!
