Kentucky is an example of why it’s a terrible idea to bet on college football.

I thought Kentucky had turned the corner from their early season struggles. I thought they had learned to play in big games. But then they crapped the bed coming off a bye week. It was a lousy defensive gameplan complimented by utter sloppiness on offense. The “grind you down” OL wasn’t on the field. I think we can do pretty much the same.

Stoops looked like he was possessed or having an aneurysm. Dude lost control of himself.

4 turnovers! Same reason they just got by UTC and other early games the should of won easy.
Could play turnover free next week and it could be a tough game.
Could come down to self inflicted wounds and who has the least.

The good news - we've had a week off to heal, and to me, I think this team is hungry for a big win. A decent outing against Bama (even though some folks here disagree). A win here and a 7 win season is very likely. Not bad with a depleted roster and much better than many predicted at the first of the season.

This has the makings of a pretty good game. Anxious for Saturday in Lexington. Off weekends spawn dumb threads. It's been bad lately. Rename Neyland Stadium.. Really?? Time to get back to what matters.

A road game at UK isn't "easy" but it isn't Bama either.

UT is starting to get healthy and may even have Calbert back on the OL which would be huge.

MSU exposed some UK weaknesses. They're anemic running the football yet had some effective runs vs UK. UK misses Oxendine badly. UK HATES to be spread out like MSU... and UT... do to opponents. Spreading them out exposes a lack of great pure athleticism on the back end.

MSU also gave UT plenty to study vs UK's run game. UK rushed 20 times for 66 yards.

Lastly, pressure UK and they'll make mistakes... especially turnovers.

Because of the style of the match up I've liked UT's chances in this game for a long time. Even better now.

Folks complained about how thin UT is this year. UT lacks depth of talent in some places. That's the plight of UK every year. When you only recruit and develop diamonds in the rough then you can produce a team with older, skilled players but the guys behind them are in some stage of development.

After the game Stoops whined about how thin they were... they've had a few injuries and lack the quality depth to play at the same level.

I didn't believe it until I saw it, but 21 points is not going to cut it against UT, they are a shell of thier former selves. something happened along the way that turned them into KY again. We roll.

What UT does well on D is what they tolerate least. TFL's and middle run defense.

A key will be if they've learned how to contain a mobile QB. I would LOVE to see the game come down to Levis decision making as a passer... but the guy is pretty fast and makes good decisions when breaking the pocket.

I didn't get to watch the game last night but it looks like Levis imploded with the overall stat line and 3 interceptions.

Think if TN jumps up early by a couple of scores and keeps KY in catch up mode, they have a good shot.

Kentucky is going to be angry, and they are at home, where they always do better. Their fans have been a factor in games. Hopefully Heupel studies the game film religiously. If we take advantage of the weaknesses that MSU exposed, the VOLS should win, but it won’t be easy. Tennessee has weaknesses too, and despite the BYE, not sure which players we’ll have back. Levis is very up and down, and with him having such a horrid game yesterday, I imagine he’ll be at his best against UT. Going to go with the VOLS in a close one, 31-27.

I have been cocky about beating Kentucky for a while now. If you’ve watched any of their games you can see that they don’t have much offense. They’ve done nothing to impress me.

I can remember several strikes back in the 70's. Got bad enough that both sides started carrying. Scabs were determined to get thru and the strikers were hellbent on stopping 'em. Made for some interesting moments and several pickups had new ventilation in their beds both ways.

Not sure we have a defender who can run with him. Suggest whomever gets the job will need some help. Of course, if the defense plays disciplined ball and doesn't get sucked in by misdirection, we should be able to at least limit his damage to a degree.

The biggest thing I wanted to know was how many of their starters will be missing our game? And how many of our injured players will be back for UK and will they be fully healed? In particular, the oft injured Mayes brothers, Evans and Hooker. If those guys are near 100%, I think our chances are greatly enhanced. Still a tall order to win vs UK at night at their place, but I'd think we could make a good showing with those 3 back in the lineup.
